The bars aren't the "cure-all" in the traction department, but they definitely help. They also take away wheel hop under spinning conditions.
I fabbed up some shims for the rear brackets on my bars, to bring the angle of the bars up, and move the snubber closer to the spring. It makes a noticeable difference.
