replacing door handles need help

I have an 01 durango that when i bought the guy had put the chrome door handle covers on. the problem is he used a plastic epoxy to put them on so the covers are not coming off. so i was looking at the back handles and cannot figure out how to get the one nut off. I was talking to one guy and he said i might have to drill a hole to get to it. this dosent sound right to me so i just wanted a second opinion.
