02 Magnum 360 - 125k miles - ran perfectly 3 yrs ago when I took it out of the truck. Preparing to install a nice CompCams camshaft, which will require replacing the valve springs.

Other than making it easier to replace the valve springs I've no other good reason to unbolt the heads, but, it is as good an opportunity as any to slap in fresh head gaskets, and my question to the congregation is this - would unbolting the heads/installing fresh head gaskets induce more problems than it would solve?

I do not want to get into the heads any further than just cleaning the deck(s) and bolting them right back on with fresh gaskets. Assuming there are no problems getting them off and everything stay's clean...I can't really think of any negative affects from pulling them...but I figure it can't hurt to put out the question to glean any thoughts I haven't considered.

Thanks

You can replace the head gaskets while you are doing the valve springs since it will be easier than leaving the heads on, as you have to use compressed air to keep the valves closed, and then you could end up finding out you have to do a full engine rebuild.🤪

yup copy all, and concur. I guess if I discover it needs more 'work' then it'll get it, but yah I'll pull the heads and make sure it's good to go...at least until it needs a full rebuild...and then I'll very likely drop a stroker kit in it.
