i origionally wanted an CC R/T but in H.S /College a buddy of mine had a 01 R/T RC and that thing hauled ass...

I had a 93 RC at first and it was fun till the computer took a crap. Then when I got my 00 RC I've been planning on swapping in a v8...so..its always been about weight I guess. I do wish I had more room...lol

I thought my 99 R/T regular cab was 4200 pounds....am I wrong?

if so then I need to change the stats on my dyno run.....hmmmm
The RC R/T weight I always heard the most was 3880 curb weight dry. That's with no fluids. A gallon of gasoline weighs 6 pounds, then you've got water, antifreeze, motor oil, tranny, rearend, and washer fluids. 4000 pounds comes around real quick then.

Reviving an old thread but I never saw this thread until now.

2 Years ago on a Thursday night before work the then fiancee and soon to be mother-in-law went out to dinner. As we're pulling into the restaurants parking lot I spot a RC Dakota in a small used car lot. We sit down at a table where I could see the truck in full site. I'm going over it trying to figure out what year it was, possible options, ect.... Hour later as we are about to leave I told the soon to be wife that I gotta check out that truck.

Got across the street and was really looking at the truck. 1st thing I saw was the shaker hood, then the painted on black stripes, then the stampede factory kit, then looked at the window sales sheet and found out it has the 4.7L v8 with auto trans.

That truck was on my mind all night at work. As soon as I got off work the next morning I shot back to that sales lot and waited for them to open up at 8am. I let the owner get setup for the day then I went in and asked about the truck and took it for a test drive. Hour later I finally came back lol.

The wife wanted to do breakfast and that's when we talked about the truck, shortly after that I called up my boy and asked if he would be willing to co-sign with me for this truck. Said yeah sure, by 1pm less than 24 hours later after I saw this dream truck I was the new owner of a '03 Dakota RC.

I'm 6' 320# and I have about an inch between my belly and steering wheel but I'm okay with that. It's not my daily driver so I can live with it.

My truck was one of those right time right place deals, definitely not in the right price though. Talked the seller down from $14,250 to just shy of $10,000 but just about everything I ever wanted to do with my daily driver '00 CC was pretty much already done so to me that was worth the price I paid. Not everyone will agree but I'm happy with the price I paid and have been happy without regrets!

Good find:mullet:
Two good things going for your RC. '03 was the only year with standard rear disc brakes, and Stampede Daks are extremely rare. Immediately after Cash for Clunkers, all Dakotas are rare, period. Take care of it and enjoy it!
BTW, is the old bicycle velodrome still in Kenosha? I competed in the National Championships held there in 1972.

Unfortunately my '03 does not have that rear disk brake option which would have been awesome. I know where I could get a complete rear end off an '03 Durango but I just don't have the money to go get it. I don't see too many dakotas on the road with the Stampede kit and the one's that I do see I've seen before. I always get asked who makes the body kit on my truck and when I tell them its the factory installed stampede kit they usually say; "No such thing! So how much for it?" When I tell them $700 they look at me with a crazy stare then walk away. I did have 1 kid see me and appologize for not believing me after he did some research and pricing.

As for the Velodrome yeah it's still there. I had to do some research about it and found out that they hold races every Monday and Tuesday night. I drive by there probably once a week and I never see anyone there but I never go by there on either day.
