Just curious as to why we all bought regular cabs? Was it just being in the right place at the right time to have an opportunity to buy a dak, and it just happened to be a RC? Was it the lighter weight? Whatever it may be, lets hear it.

For me: I've always loved standard cab trucks, and I have quadruplet 7 year old siblings. So I figured that the best bet for me would be a RC truck, so I wouldnt be hauling siblings around all day long. So far its worked out, little to no sibling hauling!

well i kind of wanted an r/t because of the larger market to make it faster than say the 4.7. In six month i had only found 2 for sale locally. The first was a black club cab and it sold before i had a chance to even take it for a test drive. Then I found mine and it happened to be a RC. If I had got the CC I wouldnt really use the back seat to carry people and it probably would have been taken for a system. I just prefer less weight and the smaller look of the rc.

Yeah: lighter weight, turning radius, performance, mpg. "Sports car with a bed":mullet:. My truck's curb weight empty was 3759 pounds, nearly 500 pounds less than a 2005-up CC, about 100 less than an R/T. I had a '92 RC 5.2 once that was even lighter. Just the old "hot rodder" in me, :banana2:I guess. Most people can't imagine a '97-'04 RC having a 4" smaller turning radius than a '01-'05 Honda Civic!!! The entry level pickup is going the way of the dinosaur, unless it's itty-bitty, or a monster with a six-banger. I wouldn't be surprised if GM gives the Colorado RC the ax at redesign time.

i searched and searched for a regular cab. there was tons of CC's available, but IMO the back seat takes away from the whole sporty concept of the truck. hence the reason ford didnt make a production club cab lightning. i mean if i was gonna buy a SRT-10 ram i wouldnt buy a club cab. and btw im 5'10, 240 lbs and fit in my cabin like a hand in a glove.

I've noticed the same thing, more CC's than RC's in the used market. The CC's even cost $2K more when new. The demand/market for RC's is still there. You never appreciate something until it is taken away. Both gone: RC and the "real" R/T.

I originally wanted the QC or the CC but if I went with that, then I knew the wife would want to take it now and again to work, to drop the kids at daycare etc...I could not let that happen, my truck cannot go to the dark side. Now if she gets one thats fine, but my truck is my truck.

Looks, easy as that. I'm not sure why, but when it comes to a lowered 2wd truck, RC is the only way to go, imo. Now when you're talking 4x4s, I love CCs and QCs, and don't particularly care for RCs. The weight is a bonus too when you're trying to go fast. And there's plenty of room in my RC for me, and I'm 6', 250. But then again, I don't like to lean back when I drive, my seat is two clicks forward and that's enough lean for me :eek:nethumb:

Mine was right place right time and right price after the negotiations. Oh and the fact that it was a 5 speed which I wanted anyways. Sometimes wish I had gotten a cc but someplaces just don't have the room to back that extra foot or so in length up.

Mine was pretty much right place right time. I was not even looking for a dakota I just saw it sitting in the guys yard with the sign for 3 days before I stopped. got up close and saw it was a v8 5 speed no options which was just what I wanted. I had always liked the dakotas so when the guy told me 3500 cash I jumped on it ive had it for almost 2 years now and would not trade it for anything. I like the cc but I love the look of the rc and only my girl rides with me so i dont need the extra room. I find the cab comfortable and im 5'11 and 250

i knew about the leg room before i got mine because i drove my dads r/t when he had it. so i was being careful when shopping. but i wanted a regular cab so there was just enough room for me and my Debbie and nobody else. i kinda wish i had a backseat for my subs but for some reason i hardly ever have the cd player turned up now in the truck. it's just so much fun to drive i don't need a lot of music.
