OK sooo , does the back rest just slide back into the bracket after removing the torx head screw... I been tryin to figure out the seat thing for subs for 3 months.... I do not mind not folding it, but if I need to I can remove the sub easily right??? Slide the back up and take the sub out. The back won't be locked in?? I have a 2000 4.7 5speed 4x4 dakota Quad with as much as I got into this truck it needs to sound amazing inside too. Thanks for any information in advance.

I’ve been kinda wondering the same thing on my truck. Havent had the time to unbolt seats yet. I have the 6 seat and have thoughts of pulling that center and putting the sub there.

What I do know is that when the seat is lifted the backrest is pivoting back toward and moves closer to the truck bed. So I’m with you, maybe solution is taking them off the hinges and fix stationary. I want to see what’s said. Images of solutions would be even better.

I built a custom single 12" sub box for mine. There are a couple small tricks when it comes to the back seats and getting them to fold.
You'll be able to see where the rear seat hook sits on the cab loop... if you trim about 1.5" from the bottom and voila extra storage and somewhere to put an amp. I do have to remove seat back to get to sub box.

So this cut on the back of the seat allows you to fold the seat forward? Does it stay normal when riding? When you lift the seat base up it will allow you drop the back of the seat down correct?
Yes. Everything will fall into place when it's in normal position. You can see in the pic the loop sits very high in the hook. You'll notice the back raises up when the bottom is lifted. All your doing is shortening the hook that keeps it from moving forward when lifting it.
