4WD has the axle under the springs. 2WD has the axle over the springs. You would need to cut/weld spring perches.

Expansion - Durango was ALWAYS axle over spring; only the Dakota 4WD was axle UNDER spring for most years.

So, no, it'll bolt in, but you'll be Carolina Dragging that rear bumper ...

An axle is an axle. If the previously mentioned spring perches line up it will physically swap with no issues. The un seen concern would be the gear ratio. You'd want to be sure the ratio in the donar rear matches the front diff ratio from your 4x4.
I'm currently swapping a V6 8.25 drum brake axle for a V8 9.25 disc brake rear as a part of my HEMI swap.

No, the spring perches are different, Dakota 4x4 has the perches on top, Durango and Dakota 2WD on bottom.

If the springs are different you'll have to change them (you can do it yourself if you can weld and have the equipment) but most important is to make sure the ratio are the same
