OK - I'm hoping this is a common issue...

On Lil Viagra, I've developed a (what it sounds like) "metal rattling" that only occurs @ 2100 rpm. Happens in 1st, 2nd and 3rd with steady "foot-on-pedal" pressure. Don't know about OD since a) I'm already pissed off and have either the radio up or windows closed, or b) just got my foot buried in the pedal.

Sounds like a heat sheild in the engine compartment or around the tranny. Any idea? I checked everything I could to no avail (mainfolds - left in place when headers were installed. Didn't check the starter sheild though...

Checked the stock location for the old muffler. This one has me baffled - could it possibly come from inside the cat? I'm scratching my ass and my head on this one - strange that it only occurs @ 2100 rpm, no other time??

I have this same exact problem on and off at the same RPM. My exhaust rattles everything for 100 yeards in all directions, but its really annoying, think its the heat shield on the cat or the cat itself is rusted out.

I had the same thing on my 99 Dak. Turned out to be the cat had come apart inside.
Dude - that's what I freakin thought...thanks for confirming!

T.J. - man, I checked the stupid heat sheilds and I though the same thing...gotta be the insides. Just one stupid thing after another....why does it always have to be the small pidely things - and not something ....like...making a hole for a new 408...you know...something you don't want to pay for, but will make the best of it when it happens...

ah, sh*t, I'm rambling again...time to go take the Zoloft....

 Kinda funny you put it that way. I was so pissed when my cat went out, I drove to my local dodge dealership to see if I could get the cat replaced under warranty (yeah right!). I ended up driving home in my brand new R/T with 3 miles on the clock :mullet:
