I have a rattle in the front part of my 2000 durango. I have been told this is the timing chain hitting the case. I want to know if anyone else has ever heard anything like this. If they have is it expensive to fix? :

How many miles are on it? I wouldn't expect to whip a timing chain that badly until at least 120k, maybe even 150k depending on how the motor's been cared for.

How about the water pump? Sometimes when the pump bearing starts to fail they'll start to sound like a bunch of milk bottles rattling around under the hood.
