I have had countless threads all stating the same thing so here is my build thread finally! I have most of the automatic sensors and cables unhooked and steering colum converted, auto driveshaft is out and I'm almost ready to put the manual pedal assembly in. Gray truck is the donor and that is now sold. Enjoy! I'll post plenty more pics as the build progress's.

Since you did the NV3500 swap. Time for a T-56! We should work something out.
get a 4.7 5 speed, no headaches and just as fun to drive as a stock r/t just no aftermarket, also double the gas mileage:stirthepo
I seriously doubt a 4.7 gets twice the gas mileage as a 5.9...
Hey harsh have you ever considered getting a donor 5.2 5-speed and just swapping in your motor and goodies?

Since there were no 01+ 318/5-spd combos, what PCM would he use?

Edit. I guess you are suggesting backdating the entire truck?
Any reason you didn't try an 01 Ram PCM?

Who said anything about having to use an 01 or up? Like I said, take a 318 5 speed (which would be a 97-00) and swap your motor into it. Pretty cut and dry I believe. Get a cheap donor with a good 5 speed and a fairly straight body and swap over anything from the better truck you want in the new 'donor'.
THe PCM from the 318 and 360 are basically the same. So that eliminates that problem, you should already have the flywheel from a Ram, so now all that would be left is swapping any other items such as seats, suspension, etc...
Some believe 2001 rams will work. But they are still dual wire ccd bus trucks. 2001 ups were single wire.

Please find me a 2000 5.2 5 speed pcm.

The 5.2 in a dak ended in 99. 4.7s replaces them in 2000 except for a durango whih had a base engine of 5.2

Ok, geez. You know what I am getting at...Find a 97-99 then instead of a 97-00...
Yeah i assume so. But its wrong information none the less.
No updates from me right now guys, still having pcm issues. I know of a guy who could inspect certain vehicles twice a year and "could" just not put the sticker on the winder and hand that to me on the side instead....but this being a publicly viewed forum I would never sugguest doing that ;)

Anyways, yes it's been brought up, I could buy an older 97-99 dakota and swap all of my shit out but I'll be damned before I do that....I'd rather rip all emissions shit out and make a track rat before I ever swap to another vehicle.

a t56 swap is a future goal but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.
hell with making it a track vehicle, if i went through that trouble i'd wanna drive it

My thoughts exactly!:clap2:
Getting some nice weather finally, expect a really good driving video soon.
I have all my parts waiting for me minus the rear shaft and a clutch kit. With all your troubles I'm to much of a pussy to swap mine over. My parts and pcm come from a 98 and mine is a 99 so maybe ill luck up and it'll just work...
I have one of those NV3500's sitting in my shop with 68,000 on it and the ears broken off.

from what i understand pre 01 is no problem with the swap

That's the consensus.. my vagina doesn't really have sand in it. Honestly I'm just being lazy. Only thing I'm not 100% on is what to do with the wiring. It's not complete plug and play I don't think.. but if it will drive after the swap the details can be worked out I suppose.
