My idea is 2 fold.
1. Take a 2000-04 4x4 dakota make it into a rally cross truck. By 1 ripping out the front axle and naking it rwd. Plus to make more room for a motor-n- trans swap.

IDEA#2.
In stead of a rwd conversion. Take a AWD Durango and rip out the power train to transplant it into a 4x4 dakota.
Making it I to a awd dakota.


The idea came to me when I was thanking about the dakota/durango interchangeability when it comes to parts.
I do be leave the two share the same or similar power train between 4x4 and awd.


Can anyone give me more info on my swap?

My critique would be this;

Idea 1) It makes no sense to rip out the front axle and front drive from a 4x4 and make it a 2wd when you can find plenty of usable 2wds. As an FYI, there is (or was) a lift kit available for the 2wds to build desert trophy trucks out of them.

Idea 2) There are AWD Dakotas already available. They are a little rare but they already exist…Next option, if you can't find an AWD version of the Dakota, you can probably find an AWD transfer case from either an AWD Dakota or Durango, and swap it for the 4x4 version.
