hello everyone, I'm Michael. I decided i should register on your all's forum and throw some links up to some pictures of my work. I owned 2 X-Runners over the past 3 years and both had tinted taillights. the first one i had done by a buddy who actually inspired me to start painting and the second one had a set of tails that i changed multiple times just because i could. I even tinted them red for awhile to make them blend with the paint.
now to the paint.. i use automotive grade paint and a gravity feed professional grade spray gun to tint the tails. my normal consistency of paint is about 80% clear coat and 20% Black paint. when mixed together, the paint becomes a dark haze, but when applied to a taillight, 3rd brakelight, turn signal, side marker light, etc, it creates a smoked look to it. if you enjoy them darker or black, the lights will look pure black until you touch the brakes, turn signal etc. this paint mixture is the same as having 80% tint on your windows.
here are a few links full of reviews :drive:

another thing, from experience, I do not tint headlights or foglights. the reason is because the minor rock-chips that create craters in the lights will cause the tint to look abnormal and weird and I don't enjoy that look. I'm very picky and won't do something that i don't think someone would enjoy
