Well, I have a friends truck who is ticking bad. I suspect bad lash adjusters since they didn't chaneg the oil as much as they should have. Very dirty. Is it possible to just change the lash adjusters without removing the heads or am I asking for trouble? I would like to replace all of them and the valve cover gaskets. Thanks.

yes..... you can change the "lifters" these are over head cam motors.... all you have to do is pop off the valve covers and there sitting right here.... now removing them is a different story (i have never done that before)

You can do them with the cams still installed as well - just takes a little longer.

it's easy. Pull valve covers and you may be able to pull them once you spin the engine. Or you can just loosen cam bolts and pull them out and install new ones.

You'll have to pull cam followers first to get the lash adjusters out.
