This thread is being configured for people to post pictures of hoods installed on their trucks. Please add photos even if there is another truck with the same item in the thread - it can be very helpful to see how this product looks with various body colors and other modifications.

stock hood weight

Does anybody know what the stock hood weighs and how much of a weight savings a fiberglass one is and are all these fiberglass hoods street weight are there any race weight hoods besides hairyglass racing hood?

the hairy glass hood is a pin on for racing only. wouldnt last much street use.

Can the lift off hood be made to work as a normal hinged hood?

You mean lift-off AND open like a normal hood? Anything is possible, but I'm sure it's a definate pain in the ass.


You could do like some older muscle cars. Keep a hinge hood, but pin the front of it to get rid of the latch.

I was thinking more along the lines of buying a lift off and bolting my hinges to it and using it like a normal hinge hood. Seems like it might be too thin to put the hinges on but I'm just wondering if I could put more fiberglass or bracing in that area instead.
