ok so my OD button went bad (i believe) when i press it, the truck doesn't do anything and the light doesn't come on for it.

last time i turned off the OD was to pass someone and then it wouldn't shut off... i had to stop the truck, turn her off and then start her back up... od came back on, but the button hasn't worked since...

could i pull the wires and hook it up to a different button? or would it be easier to replace the button itself?

i've got an auto trans

If you're just passing someone, push a little harder on the skinny pedal. It'll downshift on its own.

The OD off button is a simple momentary switch, this way the computer can default to OD on any time the key is cycled. Pry the switch out and check the wires, it may just have disconnected.

it seems to strain a lil more with downshifting on its own... thats y i liked usin the OD button, plus i could get outta the gas a lil and still have it in the powerband.

but i hope they just disconnected.... nothin to major there lol

I cleaned the old button, worked a couple times but, then stopped working again. I replaced the button with a new one from RockAuto but, while it worked for my test drive, it did not work the 2nd time I tried it, when I was actually towing. What do I replace next? The shifter? Some wiring? Please help.
