I wish to lower my 2000 4wd dodge durango slt. I have a few questions. I hear that blocks are the best way to lower your truck in the back. But what about the front? Are springs the best? I'm shooting for about a 2 inch front 3 inch rear drop. What would be the best combination of parts to achieve this? Also, I have to be able to tow a trailer occasionally. Does anyone know of a place where you can buy a hitch that either adjusts or is at a higher height than the hitch I recieved in my factory towing package? If anyone can answer any of my questions that would be great.

why do you want to lower a 4x4? it isn't very easy to do that. if you want a lowered vehicle, trade yours in and get a 2wd.

1) I believe the 4x4's have torsion bars in the front if that is the case you should be able to get re-indexed torsion bar keys for about $50 these will give you up to 3" of drop without having to run the bolts almost all the way out on the factory keys. you do need to know a bit about torsion bars to get them unloaded and off the truck. 2) I would spend some money in the back and use drop leafs they cost $80-$200 but it will save you from lots of headaches down the road
Leaf springs

Just a questions. What tis wrong with dropping the rear with blocks? I have had mine on for 2 years without any problems. As for lowering a 4x4, I agree it should be lowered, but if thats what you dig, check out God Father Customs. They are a DJM supplier and I believe the have a lowering kit - I believe it is springs in the front, blocks in the rear. Later.

The Shop I work at has had nothing to do with blocks ever a while back they had a guy toss a u-joint and put his drive shaft up through the box it was the axle wrap from the blocks and hard launches, and same on the off-road side a lot of free replacement parts went out the door. now as for pulling a trailer of any kind there is stress on the axle and the more area between the axle and spring the more likely axle wrap. the other thing I don't like are cast blocks some of my 4x4 friends have them and the crush after a while

and last but not least you can't use blocks in a 4x4 to drop it anyway because the spring goes over the axle
you can use blocks to lower a 4x4 because the durangos have the leaf springs under the axle. The Dakotas are the ones who have the spring above the axle and blocks would lift it.

you must be referring to the newer dakotas? cuz my 92 was spring under rear....
yep i lowered my 97 dakota wit lowering blocks.. its leaf spring under axle
belltech springs are two to three inch drop and cheap have fun gettin them. installation is easy and does not change your pinion angle. but no matter what you need drop shocks cause youre ride will suck wit stock length shocks, for a 4x4 you should get the toursion bar clocking arms which adjust youre toursion bars in the crossmember whith out killing your align ment adjustments!! later im out any Q contact me (ase certified)
