In my case I have only .512/.512 lift (with 1.6 rockers) but I also decked the block 40 thou and used a .027 gasket, so my net equivalent is:

.512 + .040 + (.040 - .027) = .565
FYI, Decking the block and head gasket thickness DOESN'T alter the cams net lift at all. It's still netting .512 lift.

The 318 pistons are a true flat top piston with no valve reliefs and I'm not sure what the max lift you can run is, but I've got .512 .512 lift on my cam and it is really close, even after retarding it back -4 degrees with the timing chain.

I don't beleive KRC has it listed on their web site. I found it while I was reading through the old posts. Bill, I think from KRC, had Comp Cams grind it and he put it in his Durango to try it out. With the pretty much stock (I don't remember all that was changed prior to this cam install, headers and R/T heads was) Durango, it made great torque and was very streetable.

I'm looking for a rebuild that I can run in our bi-annually mud race. The track (actually a trail) is about 1/8 mile long, with alot of mud/water pits, moguls,turns, and straight-a-ways. So alot of on/off the gas racing. Thought maybe this cam with the low rpm torque and higher rpm range would be a good fit.

Any other suggestions on a better cam? Thanks Ricker
I would consider calling Comp directly then. I bought a cam from them a couple weeks ago and they were friendly to deal with, knowledgeable and most of all, it shipped FAST!

IAWTP.... 212/218 114 lsa .510/.510 was as close as it gets on my 318

Yes I know, I didn't say "net lift" I said "net equivalent".

I was talking about the distance between the valve and the piston. Decking the block and changing the gasket thickness DOES change that.

So in terms of P2V clearance I have the EQUIVALENT of running .565 net lift with stock block and gasket dimensions.

A little update...I ended up calling Comp Cams and with the motor I'm building they suggested thier #20-746-9 cam. I believe this is the same cam that Harsh-R/T is using.
265/273 Duration (216/224 @ .050)
506/ 506 Lift 114 LSA

I want to use this with 1.7 RR, so I can get more lift (Mopar 6062 .600" lift springs will also be used). What would be my lift with these? I'm thinking .538"

Make sure to check p2v. My guess is that .538 with that duration will be too much lift for a 318. What size valves? Stock flat-top pistons? Def will need to measure and maybe need to fly-cut those pistons..

Yes. A guy recently tried to install a .488/.488 210/210 on a 110+4 in his 5.2and didn't have the .080 int/.100 exh P2V clearance he was looking for.

I'm sorry, when I first started this thread back in Feb. I was looking to rebuild the 5.2L that was in the truck, but after tearing it down I found some problems and a friend had a 5.9L block that was already machined for a stroker build, so I changed horses in mid stream and went with a 408. I didn't realize I never updated this thread until now.
The Ross pistons I'm using have the valve cuts in them.
