Here is a great idea:

1-5th of a month, a person can put there self up for entry with one pic/post in entry thread for TOTM. In that single post, the user is responsable to list info they like to represent except additional pictures, which must be linked off to another site, site garage, etc. User decides how and is responable to do so. This way the site won't be flooded with pics and bandwith. On the 6th lock thread making it uneditable and link it to the poll thread for people to look and vote.

6-last day of month, all entrys are in a poll with the one pic. All site members can vote, even vote for yourself if you like (only reason to allow that is cause that would be much easier for the site/less work) Besides one vote made by each owns ride, any fool would vote for themself and it would be almost even there unless you don't vote for yourself. Also if there are 32 entries, 20 people may not have a vote and people may not like getting no votes, so why not let it fly? Only thing that would have to worry about cheating is fake users, with that put a restriction such as minimum posts to vote and minimum time on site?

1st day of next month,The winner is discovered and poll is locked, only that one pic goes to the winning history, no truck info etc. Easier for admins

This way there would be so much little work for the site. Basically 2 threads, one as an entry and another as the poll. I think it would also be more fun this way, having say 12 entrys versous 3 is much more competitive, would be just like a car show. Like a car show, the user must post/clean and represent on their own and the show/site just hosts and gives credit to the winner. And of course have the limit when a winner can enter again.

I think the fact that only 7 members (8 if you include me) not including mods & admins, have posted in this thread pretty much shows how little interest there is in TOTM. It also doesn't help that there hasn't really been a long consecutive run of TOTM since 2009 either.
Then again you have to consider this forum doesn't seem to get as much posters as it did 5 years ago.

because of A) retards, B) dicks running people off C) I dunno...but you gotta have a C if you have an A and a B

:jester:

there were a few and still are, members who come off with a "I'm better than you because _______" attitude. this tends to run off newer members looking to learn. someone asks a dumb question because they're a 17 year old kid who just bought his first truck and is learning how to take care of it, and the first 5 replies are "go away troll!" and "put the wrenches down and go pay someone who knows what they're doing before you fuck it up"

we were all dumb 17 year old kids who didn't know the difference between EFI and a Carb, or a distributor and a coil.

or if you were an expert rebuilding engines by 17...then you were dumb and knew nothing at some point in your life. you weren't born knowing how to wrench.

then you factor in the losers who base their entire self worth off of how many posts they have, or how much rep they have, and you get cliques...guys destroying the rep system and forcing it to be reset and rules changed, making it so difficult for the rest of us to use it the way it should be used. I don't hand out rep much, but when I do, I'll get some stupid message saying I have to spread it around some because I repped the same guy 4 months prior.

I've noticed this site going down these past few years, I try to stick around and help when I can, answering questions by others, etc. but....I'm just one man, and cannot change a culture.

So I return today for the first timeand didn't realize exactly what I did to get to this page, but I hi-lighted something worth thinking about.

The guy above me is a great start.

this tends to run off newer members looking to learn.

That be me.

And me(-ish)again.

How quickly people forget.

and you get cliques...

Truly a time to take a poll and ask questions to the members, "What can be done to make this site better and whatare your gripes?"

I'm betting at least 1/3, maybe 1/2 of the current vendors don't renew.
Considering the content of words towards other members, I wouldn't advertise here. Advertisers have an acco. with there web sites and magizines. If the mag sucks, the vendor wastes money and can be seen as a crap place to do biz with, just like the mag. or web site.

This is how much of the public see things, right or wrong, that's how it goes.

and admin staff that is never around and doesn't give a shit and a half about the site..
I agree with this site, though I hope I'm not posting in vain here, but probably am. I just didn't understand why it was OK for rebel13 to leave me pornographic **** photo's and badger me. Along with the "Clcik" that followed him.

Why was it OK to get this in a PM "fucktard...don't mess with the regulars...."
When I simple defend myself from an onslaught of crap givin to me?
I still stand by my comment, "Best site on the net my ass."

So I return today for the first timeand didn't realize exactly what I did to get to this page, but I hi-lighted something and left a reply (Hopefuly) worth reading & thinking about.

Make it a truck of the year contest. Once a month is just way too often: as soon as you finish the process for one month you'd have to start it up again for the next. If you make it an annual thing in December it would be easier. People love that "celebration of the year" crap in December too. How many regular posters do we even have on here with vehicles worthy of that title? Would it be enough to have meaningful contests month after month, year after year?

^bad idea! There is 15,477 registered users, whether still active or not doesn't matter, there is to many. It should be for the active patricipants. Just like any other car show, you don't enter you can't win. And if there are to many entries, they sub the classes. If your rich, your going to win, plain and simple, not everyone has money and this makes it even for everybody.

I suggest once a month.
Can only re-enter a year later minimum for previous winners.

I made the suggestion months ago about posting up pics of your truck and let others see them and then they vote on the est one...it was a simple idea but "big borthoer" on this wbsite disagreed and I got blasted for it....So I again suggest, that if you want to participate, post up pics and let your fellow D-D owners vote on it.
