The mass interest just isn't there anymore. We can't do TOTM if we only receive a hand-full of nominations.

Let me talk with Jason. I know people wanted to do it but the amount of people needed just for the nomination process just wasn't there. Perhaps we can tinker with that portion of it to figure out a way to get the nominees, but if after that we still don't get enough participation we'll just kill it again. I agree it was always a fun little honor to have on the site.

Just because they're charging them don't mean they're getting them.. I'm betting at least 1/3, maybe 1/2 of the current vendors don't renew. I'd even put money on which ones go. But then realize they have their expenses.. They have to pay their full time moderation staff ("What do you do for a living?" "I moderate retard pissing matches on the interwebz.") and admin staff that is never around and doesn't give a shit and a half about the site..

Offering a prize to the winner won't make a difference - I've done it before. It isn't difficult to find people who claim that they want to win TOTM, the hard part is convincing people to get up off their ass to submit nominations (since you can't nominate yourself) and then coming back later to vote.

Must not be talking about me - I'm still surfing here on a semi-regular basis and I've never been paid a dime for the thousands of hours of my personal time that I've spent addressing moderator issues on this website. At least Phil gets paid for putting up with people's stupid bullshit...

this is the hard part. it would make so much more sense if you could nom yourself. put a pic or 2 up. and put everyone pic in a poll then the top lets say 5 go to a "finals" poll thread. then the winner of that is tom
