Come on Todd, get off the John bashing kick man. We all know you and him don't get along, do you have to act like a prick and constantly bash him? Seriously man, let it go. What website or forum has he publicly demeaned you? But you seem to make that announcement in every post. You did the same thing on the RTML. Seriously dude, just let it go.
Oh one last thing for everyone to see - you guys wanna see some long tubes with top quality craftsmanship!

http://www.rtmods.com/images/misc. temp/grimyrt_headers.jpg

NOW THOSE are some long tubes - that pic is courtesy of GrimyRT over on delphi - notice the size of the collector (fist fu$#able)....

Craftsmanship on those courtesy of Jess Dale (JD Performance Headers)....he builds each by hand making sure the fit and finish is second to none....kudos to him on the BEST header for these particular mopars we have ever seen/prolly will ever see - if it werent for cali smog I woulda begged him along time ago for a set....

Man, this is getting good. Hope it doesn't get locked anytime soon. I think I'm actually dumber for having read some of the posts, but it's like a train wreck, I can't look away LOL
ROFL Dave. How did you read my mind.

I have spend almost an hour sitting here reading all this bunk. How about everyone just chills the fuck out and buy whatever you wanna buy. I had JBA's on my truck before that went y'ed into a single that went into 3 inch duals. Anything has to be netter then that. I don't care about the look, I don't care about the size, I just wanted something better then the JBA's that I had. I bought a 408 from John. I learned alot in the process. I have nothing bad to say about the man. I have heard the stories about him and about everyone that is involved in this conversation. Everyone has to make up their own mind as to what they wanna do. I bought my engine from John because there was no way I was buying anything from KRC, GiSM, or SoCal. That reason is my own and I am not about to express it here because it is my own.

Most of us aren't looking to run 10's or even 11's for that matter. Most of us just want our trucks to go faster then stock. Substantially or even just a little bit. It's all in what you can afford, the people you know, and the research that you do.

As for the whole bashing thing. Dan B, John M, Randy P, Scott Q, etc. all have a relationship or have had a relationship in the past. All be it good or bad, friends or not, they should all keep their opinions to themselves about the others. It really shows poor quality in a person when they start attacking others.

In my opinion, which I am entitled to, all be it right or wrong, is still my opinion, and no one is going to change it. That is just the person I am. I apologize if none of you agree with what I have said, but that will be your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Now, let the Mike bashing begin.

Thank God. Someone finally posted the heads next to the headers. Now, for all of you who are arguing IN FAVOR of these bathtub abortions being remotely worth a fucking shit, HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO SEAL THE SUMBITCHES TO THE HEADS??? Please, seriously, post up these magical gaskets that have been custom created to fit these magical "oval-port" R/T heads.

LOL. No, not just laughing out loud, I am rolling on the floor shitting my pants laughing so hard. :clap2:
Just for the reocrd, my flanges did not look like that nor did the ports, and they sealed just fine. I wish I would have taken pictures to show everyone but never thought of it. Lots of pics of the headers, but none of the flanges :( Maybe that is one set that was done late on a Friday afternoon or first thing Monday morning.

Pick your poison...

1) John Mercedes 1 3/4" long-tube headers. One actual owner has posted pictures with questionable flange quality. Another owner installed theirs and reports no problems but didn't examine or take pictures of the ports before install.

2) GiSM 1 3/4" mid-length headers. Owners report that the ceramic coating sucks, and there is lots of reports of poor customer service. Collector gaskets fail a lot.

3) KRC/Hooker 1 5/8" long-tube headers. These weren't built for R/T's, but I owned a set and didn't have any problems with them. The only complaint I can think of is that KRC jacked up the price by over $200 since I bought mine.

Beyond that, there really isn't any regularly available mid/long-tube header for the Dakota R/T. PPH's aren't made anymore outside of big group buys, and Jess' headers are significantly more expensive and are not readily available.

Hopefully John will jump in here and give some direct info about his headers, but I would otherwise ask that people refrain from talking shit about any product they haven't owned on their own truck. Anything else that should be prefaced with "I heard..." should be taken with a grain of salt as potential rumor and not fact.
Thank-you Sir, but I do not beleive anyone caught your post.

My flanges didn't look that bad either, but they were irregular. I stopped short of opening my other box of longtubes and checking them out because one set was enough to get me questioning.

So for the record, I spoke with John again today, and he is waiting on S&S to step up with some service and provide the explanation. No excuses, no sob stories, we're just waiting on them. Remember we're just a small segment of a small market, they have bigger fish to deal with.

Wait!

Jess is one of the NW guys that has no clue what hes doin!...

HAHAHA

OK Ill go back to sleep now.

I dunno why you or anyone else keeps bringing up Jess' headers - you can't just run out and buy a set (last I heard on Delphi it was at least 2+ months before the next set gets built), they're custom-made for each truck, and they certainly cost a lot more. It's really cool that you NW guys have managed to get a great group of owners together and have parts/labor sources (ie: mike, jess, brem dodge, etc.) in your local area, but you can't even begin to compare custom-built stuff vs. what these guys are trying to buy in a regular production environment.

I would also hardly call your group of trucks anywhere near the ideal platform for general product development - you guys have some of the most one-off setups out there - Lloyd's probably the closest thing you have to being "standard".

Hmmm...

I guess the point we are TRYING to make, is that just because one particular vendor, who has a ton of "support" for lack of a better, less inflammitory word, says that this is the "newest greatest thing", doesnt mean that it is. I originally brought Jess's headers up to illustrate the point that we HAVE found that larger exh sizing is liked on these motors... ALOT. But that point was missed because *gasp* I was critisizing something that John M brought to market. How DARE I do such a thing... hes done so much for the Dakota RT crowd... Yeah he has, but then again so have I. Then they turn right around and tear into the lifters that Jess and I developed. Hell, you owned a set and were all gung ho to use em!
And as far as custom, Im not sure why you say that. There is NOTHING on Vader OR Barney, that you cant go out and buy.... nothing except the hoods that is ;) Every bit of both of those trucks are, I wont say readily, but available to the general public. Josh's setup is a lil more custom now, but it wasnt last year, Brads was pretty normal when he was running high to mid 11's. Jess's was also pretty reproducable. Ed and Mike C are about the only two that would be difficult to reproduce ( although Mikes is readily reproducable in the 11.49 setup... ) mainly because of the turbo setup on Eds, and Mikes Indy head setup. ( we wont talk about the chassis mods that Mike and Brad are into now... hahaha )

So in summation, yes, we have a hell of a good crowd up here, that are more than willing to share what we have learned, with a TON of track time. We have developed some stuff up here that we have then shared with other people, albiet on a limited basis, but its not like we are hoarding ( other than the hoods again.. hahaha ) the technology OR the knowledge.. you of all people know that we are more than willing to give advice and help anyone that asks. I know Jess gave up on it because he got tired of people acting like the guys in this thread. I guess Im just a glutton for punishment :jester: But I wont let a few people like these guys, keep me from pointing others in the right direction when it comes to mods.

BTW, as someone on Delphi just pointed out, the Spintech ( AKA GSM ) headers are still available through Rick Gindoy.... so there ARE options out there, not like everyone wants to believe that John is the only one doing anything for our trucks. You as well as I know thats a line of BS.

You know what the worst thing John has to say about you? "I thought Todd was my friend". Thats it, thats all..
[/QUOTE]

I personally know he said many things worse than that. He talks shit about everybody behind their backs. If you are his "friend" now, wait..... Ask Mike N how he talks shit about someone he calls a friend. Not that Mike will admit it. He doesn't like me because i said it to his face.

Good ta see ya over here Jody!

Funny that no matter how much some things change.. how much they stay the same.

The even funnier part of this, is that you and Todd used to go round and round with me about all of this same shit back before half these guys even owned RT's... and look whos friends with who now ;)

I don't wanna even come close to touching the vendor clique, danno's lifters, etc. subjects - completely irrelevant to me in this thread. I just think people are getting too far off subject here with the flames and custom parts and whatnot.
