luckily for you i do know what rarefied means. i would go so far as to say that the group of people that actually have decent knowledge and know how of how to make these trucks quick is very esoteric. not only that but also very egotistical as well, just like you find in the bimmer community. it's not nearly as much of the actual finanical issue that i am pointing to. however, comparatively speaking to other production based pushrod V8s, these trucks carry a hefty price tag to go fast. also look at who generally owns these trucks... i'm pretty sure that in general they are not the same demographics as a bimmer owner so if you're looking at what percentage of someone's income they spend on modding cars... i think you get the picture.

I can't honestly say I've heard too much bad come out of John's mouth in the 7+ years I've known the man. There were "mentionings" of the club, Randy Pile, Jody, Scott, and Todd, but nothing like that MF can....lol The only person that John had a severe heartburn for was Scott Q. He burned him hard. The only thing I recall about you Todd was the domain website issue, nothing else.
Chuck said it best above...as these exact words have been spoken to me as well. Why do you think John is so reluctant to mention anything to people? These headers been in development for years now.

You know what I have to say to that - friends dont treat friends the way John treated me.....quite frankly he 'disowned' me for being friends with Scott at the time - that turned into getting a lawyer to contact to reclaim the southeastrt.com domain name and I had better give it back or else - that attorney was told some pretty polite words and I never heard back. Long story short I never did anything to the man other than I made a bad choice in friends, the lengths he went through to try and demean for that were almost comical.....

And there is two things about me that everyone can know - I am the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help anyone, next, I am the biggest asshole in the world when I feel like someone or something has shit on me and I NEVER HOLD BACK ;-)

Tell John to work on his headers since you seem to be in his dugout now - I think it shows better customer service to take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and turn it into a better product than lets just tell everyone to F off - this is JM were talking about. Quite honestly who fuckin cares its JM - it could be the pope - bottom line there is a problem, people arent happy, fix it!!! That is why Scott and I had our run in - I would tell him we need to make this right, his attitude "dude fuck that, they already paid, we already spent the profits from that order, I am not about to go back and spend more $$$ on this dickhead cause he THINKS he is not happy!" My response to that - if I were him I would kick your fucking ass (happened more than once - like 100 times)!! I am not blind, I saw there was a problem, I fixed it - I GOT THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT ASSHOLE!!!

Having dealt with LOTS and LOTS of the dakota/durango community I can tell you this - it speaks volumes to the 'community' when you come back and say, 'after many requests we are now offering XXXXX as an option' or 'we have fixed the flange design issues, thanks for all the feedback'......just my .02 - its worth prolly -.02 to anyone who is friends with JM since it came from me....

Not the trucks, Mopar. There's a difference. Chevy and Ford do much more with less money compared to Mopar products. I do agree with your statement, our trucks per say. Not easy to turn a boat pulling, tree pulling, work truck into a HoT road that comes standard from companies like Ford. But, its more a Mopar thing than anything.

Well did he mention to you how I bought that domain, did the website and called him one day and said checkout your site???? Thats right I did it for free, nothing, nada.....Once I bought the domain I OWNED IT!!! I didnt have to give it back cause John said so.....his attorney found that out the hard way - hope that didnt cost the man too much $$$ to send that assclown after me, LOL!!

And to show my character - I could have REALLY easily sold that domain to Randy Pile, Jody, Sam P., Scott - they all offered to buy it from me. I could have forwarded it to some gay porn site or put up a disclaimer on how John will help you til his dying day unless you pick the wrong friends.....I did none of the above, maybe I should have?? Nah - not my style - I will resign myself to getting things off my chest in person should I ever see John again.....I doubt that will ever happen so I will never need to speak my peace....

Well hopefully the answers satisfy the crowd....otherwise the riot will get lots worse, that is just experience speaking there ;-)

And yeah the first part is a rarity and the last part is rarefied....either way you chalk it up it speaks the truth!

Ok then. I didn't look at it that way, but you're right.

You kind of really put the light on the real problem in these forums, if you don't mind me putting the flange thing on the side for a minute. There is a lot of egos working amongst these various tuner shops. I've seen nothing but theft, deception, and outright lying around them. People are vicious with this stuff.
John was the first person I talked to when I was buying my truck, and he warned me about that. He did NOT talk bad about any specific shop, nor did he mention names. I did my research and I was not impressed by all the people who simply said this about him, "Call John, he'll take care of you." Because of this, and because the things he said went contrary to what the other shops were doing, I ended up buying a competitors "package". Which was something he also warned me about, since he prefers to design his stuff around what people want, not numbers off a menu. If I ever met you in person I'd bring my laptop and show you the months of emails between us where he was trying to iron out what he would do for me. I found it frustrating, because I was used to packages in the BMW world myself. Now that its all done with, I prefer the way he treated me.
I've ended up learning way more than I ever thought. So now here I am saying the same damn thing that I originally found aggravating - call John and he'll take care of you. I can see where that would piss someone off, because I was there. From the other side of things, it makes sense now.

Egos get out of control here, and everyone wants to make a point and go away thinking they "showed" someone or "owned" them. I've been there, done that, grew up. We're kind of stalled here until this flange can be explained, or at least we can get some numbers, right?

So everyone - take it down a few notches. Or is it going to be a fist fight at the Nationals this year? :argue:

FWIW, Jess is one damn smart cookie, and one of the nicest guys on the planet, with a very fast (it was) truck (it will be)

Those flanges looked like absolute ass, nothing else needs to be said. Collector size, etc......after those flanges, i don't need to see anything else. Just what i need, unequal ex ports...... Story is still the same. NOT ENOUGH R&D before the trigger is pulled. I wonder how many more ppl need to part with their money to these kinds of ppl?

I wasn't there to see that but the look on the guys face when he talks about you says it all to me - out of all the people he's dealt with in the Dak market, you really were the one he considered a friend. Lots of bad things can happen when you think your friend is going behind your back. I'm not going to justify anything, nor am I, Tanky, or anyone else going to speak for him at this point. You guys work that out on your own.

Truthfully, John hadn't heard about this until that pic was posted and Brad exploded. All the headers were drop shipped from S&S or JetHot, and our prototypes didn't look like that at the flange. He didn't waste any time like we're doing here - the first thing he did was call S&S and demand an explanation. He was on the phone with them for a while yesterday and then he called me. Don't blame him for what went on in this thread.

No, its worth a lot. That is the exact proper approach. I want to see how this collector works though before we go off in other directions.
It costs a lot to get any manufacturer to change directions in mid stream, and I mentioned earlier about how little the Dakota market means to any of the big vendors. I'm going to have to play some serious brain games with these guys to get the stuff I'm building out to you all, but it has to be done.

John had to go away from the big names to a custom vendor just to get these made. Its not as easy as it was 10 years ago. The manufacturers want guaranteed sales and anything less than several thousand isn't worth their time.

Could someone please get JM to get on here and let us know what is going on. I want to put these things on but if I can get them fixed then I would rather wait to put them on and get them fixed.

Anyway its a regular days of our dakotaz soap opera - I just realized I had better things to do with myself than worry about all this BS on a day to day basis....

I bet they will fix it - I would hold off putting them on.....From MY understanding S&S is a reputable company and they will most likely handle this like any reasonable manufacturer should!

BUT FIRST S&S and John have to concoct a story with a little whaaa whaaa here and poor us there - so that its believable - everyone feels like they get their twinkie massaged and life is all good again, everyone thinks S&S, JM and long tubes are back to best thing since sliced bread status. that i agree with as well. we can argue up and down all day now but what i would like to see are some numbers and an explanation from John about the issues people see with quality and design on these headers. of course we all won't see eye to eye but i'd like to see him personally address these issues. however, at the same time i can see why he doesn't publicly get involved in what's prolly sure to turn into a shitfest.

And he will. John needs to get with them first and find out their story and if any fix is warranted. Once they get all their ducks in a row, he'll address this forum. I have his word from last night he would. trust me he will. I have the headers on my garage floor as well holding install for this. I have some little tidbits of info on this but more will be forth coming I assure you.

First off I wasnt bashing John - if the truth hurts - you can do your best to sit and rotate.....him and I are done! Thats all in the past....and quite frankly none of your business....

Who said publicly??????
