The 4.7 HO is stock at 260 HP a bit more then the older 5.9.

Horsepower isn't everything. Remember, torque is the key.

With the extra weight of the new body design and the 4x4 option the truck should be a tad faster then a Ranger with a 4.0 V6.

Uh, ANY V8 4x4 should be able to beat a 4.0 Ranger. They're not anything special...

actually i just looked at the pic with the base price, look under that and you can see it says SLT. so how can it be both, SLT and RT :huh:

Because the current R/T is a package, not a model. So this one is an SLT with an R/T package. Which appears to mean nothing outside of some stickers & logos.

When you go to the Dodge web site and build the package at first it will only allow you to choose black. The hood scoop option is also blacked out and when you choose it then you have to change from the club cab to the quad cab and then the paint changes to yellow. It is then possible to get the R/T in yellow with the hood scoop but not in the club cab. I have to say that this pic of the window sticker has been doctored. Someone has put R/T badges on a 06 Dakota or the dealer has added the options.


The R/T package is really nothing more then an appearance package. It does not change the suspension or the HP of the 4.7 HO.

Then you go to the Dodge web site and build one for yourself and see what you come up with. They have nothing compared to the pic of the window sticker or the pic of the truck, the base price is not even close.

The Dodge website sucks. The marketing and IT dept definetly don't have it together. This is the third price I have seen for this stupid opt. Do you realize it wasn't until maybe a month ago the website actually showed anything about an 06 period?? 06's became available for sale in Spetember, but finally in late November the website gets updated.

ok here is somthing intresting. rt option is avail. on black, yellow, and flame red. the hood scoop is only avail on yellow and flame red. rt opt. avail. on 2 and 4 wheel drive models. still sux that it is only an apperance group.

Enjoy your truck, don't pay much attention to the haters. I think the big issue with existing Dakota R/T owners is that they had high hopes for a better R/T package (ie: 5.7L or 6.1L Hemi) that to date has never come about. The 4.7L HO package by itself isn't bad, but there is just so much more untapped potential that Dodge seems to be completely ignoring. I'm disappointed in the 4x4 availability, the ho-hum wheels, the lack of a 6-speed, and those humongous decals, but hey you picked up what could be considered the best package available at the time and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think there fine, I personally wouldn't pick them, but I think there going the wrong way... They have a Viper engine in a ram, atleast they can do is put a Hemi or update the "mighty" 360.

But ofcourse, it will sell just because it says R/T, to the people that know nothing about it...... sticker of over 30K? man, forget owning a truck, I could buy a almost new RX-8, 350Z for around 20K. lol but then i'd have a car........

But how can Dodge put R/T on its truck and it not even have power....

THE SRT GROUP is the best EVER! they have taken dodges cars(SRT-4 for example) and really turned them into something.. lol, I bet they would have rather had kept the neon and put a AWD platform on that then the Caliber... sorry calliber people but... its not a car... and it sure as hell aint a SUV.
BUT, once SRT group gets there hands on the Dakota(I bet there working on it now), you wont be dissapointed.

I've been a Dodge person for as long as I can remember and i'll always stand by there vehicles, because I love there stuff.
