In 2001, just before DC closed the books I got all the 98, 99, and 00 production numbers (except that they kept denying the SY for 00)

http://members.cox.net/purple-rt/misc.html (part of my new site, just launched it this past week)

There is not too much verification on the 00 SY because Dodge wasnt supposed to be shooting the SY then. SY was supposed to be stopped in the 99 line because the paint contained too much lead, and the EPA was all over them for it. They were allowed to use up the remaining amount of paint they had in the system, but the untapped continers were not supposed to be used. So the million dollar question is...did they finish off shooting what they had, or did they never let the paint barrel run dry until they were out of it completely so as to not waste the rest of the paint and try to figure out what to do with it when done.

Anyway, by using the numbers that I have for the 2000's and adding in the 96 SY CC's they are now admitting to making that only leaves 2 regular cab SY for 2000, and as I can remember in 00 we had only found 9 of them on on the dakota R/T yahoo group.

Charles, can I use your numbers for the rest of the models and add them to my site...Im trying to track this as much as I can.
that was the wrong thread hoop! This is the thread I started.

However, you are more than welcome to use the numbers on your site. I don't mind. 3/24 is coming!

also is there a way to get things like how many 2WD RC 4.7L 5 speeds were produced? They seem to be rarer then the R/T's, I know I've never seen another RC red SLT with that setup, not to mention the same year as mine, Shoot you hardly ever see a RC 4.7L 5 speed that is an SLT.

It's been 4-5 years since I last emailed them, but Diamler-Chrysler customer service used to give out production info. There was a spot on www.dodge.com with a link. Through them, I found out 1028 2001 Dodge Motorsports Dakotas were made, and 13 were Black/RC/4.7/5-spd. manual/3:92 like mine. As a general rule, manual transmissions make up somewhere between 7-10% of Dodge trucks.

That's weird because DC has told everyone else that has checked that the last record of color productions was for the '00 models. They could give me the production numbers of the RC's and CC's but said they had no record of the color production. I would LOVE to know how many BW '01 CC's were produced! I realize it's been a long time since you got these numbers but do you by chance remember who you talked to?

Glenn Cameron in January, 2003. The Dodge Motorsports were limited edition; I don't know if that was a factor in their record keeping. You would think that the Dakota R/T's low production numbers would encourage them to save the info. Manufacturers and enthusiasts usually have way different agendas. It would be nice to obtain a "pedigree" for your vehicle like the Corvette folks do.
BTW, I have seen some R/T lists on www.dakotausa.com

May very will be the fact that it's a Motorsport edition. Thanks for the info and I'll start digging again and hope that this Cameron guy is still around and he can help me out.

I tried again about 6 weeks ago to get the numbers for my BW '01 and their reply was "that is confidential information" and they would not release it. That is another testimonal for Chryslers GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
