I bought my hemi

Alright, I made the plunge. Today I finalized the deal on a 2006 assembly line Hemi with 0 miles, comes complete with everything but accessories and cats. That means wiring harness, plugs, plug wires, coils, all covers, AC/ALT bracket, intake, TB, (not using it, using MP cable)

It should be delivered by next Friday, I'll get some pics then. I'm so excited lol.

Sadly, the project won't start right away. I have the wife disease so I need to.. earn.. stuff... but it should go something like this: 4.7/5.7 harness splice, Mopar cable TB, Cam, 6.1l rods/springs/chain, headers, SCT

anyways, stay tuned guys.

Looking good man! My dad has that same engine in his 04 quad cab 2500 ram and it still boogies even with having to move that much truck! Always wanted to do the swap into my truck. Will be following this!
Just saw an xfi 268 cam on ebay last night, with rods/springs/lifters all brand new for $325 buy it now... it was gone quick. made me sad.
I can't imagine anyone wanting more duration in a stockish Hemi in a heavy truck than the Sidewinder. Mine pulls well over 6,500 and just begs for more. It would probably pull right up to valve float in 3rd gear or possibly destruction, if the rev-limiter was set that high. I have had it shut-down on the 6,700 rpm rev-limiter in 3rd gear (locked converter clutch) in my Quad Cab Ram with 4.56 gears and 32" tall tires.....~140+ mph, I let off the throttle, slipped the shifter up and ran it another 1,000 rpm in OD. The Sidewinder just pulls and pulls. Ram has stock exhaust manifolds, cats, single 3" exhaust, stock torque converter, etc.

I can't wait for my Dak to pull like that. I got a different cam though, not as high duration like the 268 but more than a 260/sidewinder/crazy jay

It was a killer deal, and I'll swap cams if I don't like it. Seems pretty easy to buy and sell cams on the forums. I'll have so much power after the swap though, it will be hard to see if I "don't like" the cam.

Mine won't be stock, trying for shorties if I can find some that fit, and highflow cats. and I have a 2011 R/T ram torque converter waiting to go in during the swap.

Hopefully I won't pull any codes with that setup on the 4.7 pcm. I don't have inpection for 1.5 years so I will have time to hammer stuff out.
Hope to know this weekend what exhaust manifolds work and what dont.

I have 4 to try.
Nice variety lol. I wish I could get a few sets to try, I'm contemplating getting hedman headers... they look pretty low profile but they always use a stock image for that stuff.
Pretty sure the factory truck logs fit but I also have factory LX RT style logs,LX SRT8 factory shortie headers and an off brand factory LX RT replacement shortie.

Think I am going to have the girlfriend video me while I try each one so everyone can see what fits and why others dont fit,I have enough heads here to have everything bolted up so that all I have to do is grab a head and drop it down in place.
And this will have no problem passing inspection? I was always told that you can't do motor swaps in newer vehicles becuz the vin wont match up to the engine ... hmph
The vins won't match on older cars after a swap either. Depends where you are I guess
They check vins?
Once upon a time replacement blocks didnt have a vin.

A guy could grind it off and restamp it :)
The law behind it here, is that you can swap motors but it has to have been an option for that year.

My plan is to keep all the emissions stuff and have no codes in the computer because here, they just have OBDII checks and won't really pay attention to what motor is in it.

If I run in to problems with that, then I can reach out to a family member in a rural county and get my truck registered there, where they are much more lax on inspections.

So either way, I'm golden.

I don't see any problem with it, I will have cats, O2s, all EM stuff. And the hemi runs cleaner than the 4.7 anyways since it made ULEV ratings.
I had someone just the other day ask why I was putting cats on my swap, guess I am just going for a factory looking install, right down to emissions crap :)
we don't have inspections here so I could do just about anything and get away with it.

That is awesome man! Keep up the good work! With the Hemi's MDS system you should get some killer MPG in both the city and highway!
Well as much as I love the older cars, simply put, they stink. I don't really like driving behind them in traffic. But, not only that, it would bug the crap out of me to have a check engine light on permanently unless I went stand-alone and threw together my own gauge cluster and everything. So, if I had the option I would probably keep cats anyways.

Too bad I had to disable the MDS, since it's all PCM controlled and I'm keeping the 4.7 pcm for now. It's on my future list though, to swap in a 2006 PCM and full wiring harness. THAT will be tons of work, more along the lines of DontShoot, and Hemi-Daks swaps. I have it easy.. but if I want to push a lot more HP, I will need to put in a hemi pcm for better tunability.

I figured I would throw up a big update. My full build thread is on DF so it gets a little neglected over here. but here's the last pics of building up the motor a bit and some parts I bought.
full complete thread is here, hope it's ok to link it.

Here's some pics of my 6.1 hemi valve springs installed and the start of the cam install

All the work done by me, I've never even replaced a water pump before I started this build, just suspension work, fluid changes, and a t-stat or radiator here and there.

the cam getting installed.

What is the link to the DF site, and I will subscribe, I want to watch this thing getting built!
just updated the last thread with the link right before you posted lol.
2006 pcm thought it has to be a 2005 due to the bus?
Thats what hotwire told me anyway.

Is that when they went with the CANbus instead of the PCIbus?

See, I've tried to get in contact with hotwire, but as soon as I asked them about just sourcing out some connectors (as in, no 1500 bucks for them) they stopped returning my emails.

Thanks though, that's good to know.
What connectors?
I am about to cut the coil connectors off an 07 Ram harness to use on my Magnum but not using anything else.
