The leak detection pump pressurizes the fuel tank when the truck sits overnight. If it sees a pressure loss faster than it's supposed to leak down, it sets codes for EVAP system. P0455 is one of them...I know this since it's happening on my D right now. I had a friend with a smoke machine force smoke thru the EVAP port and the solenoid on the leak detection pump is the cause of the leak. It's easy to change and should be located right in by your battery. They list for $105 according to AllData.

If you need more help, just give a holler.

Engine Code

First I would like to thank SinCity R/T for posting this info. :clap2:

After some fiddling, I was able to get the following code:

P0455 (M) Evap Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected A large leak has been detected in the evaporative sysem.

Now, what the heck does it mean? :help:

I thought I would mention this for the people that were having trouble getting the code check to work.

I had to turn it on each time until the odometer read then shut it off, repeat.

if you do it really fast it won't work.

P.S. same thing for the 80's turbo dodge's

P 0155

2000 Dakota QC 4X4 4.7 manual. Yes, Manual!

Had a overheat situation. Pulled over. Let it cool. Added h20 and everything is OK except the ckeck engine idiot light is still on.

Did the 3xkey and got P 0155. What do i have to do?
I am semi mechanical and can fix, if given good guidance.

Also a/c is intermitent. Ya gotta love troubleshooting those "intermitent" probs. :help:

thanks heaps

Electrical problem in my 2001 Durango

I hope I'm bringing a question that fits this board. . . please redirect me if necessary. I'm having trouble with my 2001 Durango. It first began with the factory alarm. Whenever we disarm the alarm the horn would honk 3 times. But now I have no headlights, domelights, door locks and the alarm system completely doesn't work. My dealership had no idea what might be wrong. Any suggestions?

This system should work for ALL OBD I Mopars, and newer model OBD II's. Its worked on all my gen I daks and folks old 96 Intrepid, and my Jeep Grand, and FYI(those who don't know) OBD I is first gen on board diagnosis systems used up until 96(I think) and OBD II used there after. And OBD I codes are different and the check engine lights flashes a code to you. I wish my 97 R/T QC had the built in code viewing sys, makes life a hell of alot easier.
