2000 & older Dakota use 2003 Hemi or you will have to get 2001 & newer gauge cluster due to the difference in buss system.
2001 & newer Dakota use 2004 & newer Hemi.
As far as the wiring harness you should use the Hemi engine harness and the Dakota Power Distribution Center (engine compartment fuse box). The 2003 Hemi engine computer and trans computers are separate whereas the 2004 & newer they are combined. I would avoid the 2003 version, if you can, as it isn't supported by DSP tuners. This is only critical if you intend to cam your engine.
Oh ya the wiring. you need to study the wiring diagrams of the Dakota nad the Hemi for hours and hours. If you get the engine harness for a 2004+ Hemi you will find that three out of four 32 wire connectors on the Hemi engine computer for the most part go directly to the engine/trans. You will need to get a 32 wire connector for the fourth connector. This connector is the one you need to splice into the Dakota's engine bay wiring harness, mostly to the PDU and some to the guage cluster, throttle pedal drive-by-wire system and OBDII. Thats where the hours studying the wiring diagrams come in.
