My son is in Iraq in the Army, while he is there he has lent me his truck. The truck is a 1999 Dodge Dakota 4x4 V6 5-speed. I am going to do a sort of "overhaulin" to it. The lift and everything else is no problem. I do know that a 318 will bolt up.

Somebody is willing to swap their 318 in their 1500 straight for the V6. So I can have all of the relevant wiring computer and such like. What I need to know is the following. I do know that a 318 will bolt up.

Can I re-use the 318 flex plate on the V6 and the V6 flywheel on the V8?

Are the motor mounts the same?

Can I splice into the wiring instead of fully replacing it?

Will the radiator be able to fit with some modifications?

Are there any other things I should know?

I have done manyswap of chevy engines into Jeeps and other type vehicles just never on a Dodge so any help would be gratefully received. I am also asking if any body wants to contribute in any way please email me. I want to try and suprise him when he gets back. Thanks,

No, you need a 318 flywheel (and v8 clutch) to put on the dakota and will need a V6 flexplate so the 1500 will work again.

Yup, you can make that work.

Yep.. need two injector plugs and pcm pins for them.

Shouldn't be a problem.

Son is a 101st

Is in the 101st, Rakasans. Forward Observer, Corporal Jeremy Hatch. I think he is in Baghdad right now in an old Casino. Not sure of his precise address, wife has it in her purse and she is away right now. Can't wait to get him back though. I was there in the first one. Wasn't pretty. Kinda bummed right now the person with the V8 backed out.
