ya man, i actualy hit the car at an angle, so even tho it may have made damage worse on my end, i think that it really saved the other car too. and the air bags, which i hear are not cheap

Sucks to hear man!

It'll be lookin good in no time

Don't stress too much about frame damage. Be glad you have insurance, cause when I wrecked, my fault + liability. something is my truck is off alignment since my fender sticks out a bit, but it drives fine so I don't give a fuck. I'm driving it till it blows up (literally, the whole car, if the motor goes, I'll replace it) so resell means shit to me.

Yeah, I recently rear ended someone in my Dak and it fucked up my grille, bumper and bumper brackets. I knew I shouldn't have left 30 mins early.

thanks man.. im needing all i can get now. im the same way. bought this car brand new, and keeping it until it crash, burns, flips and it a pile of twisted metal and melted plastic. until then, its mine, and driveable..

**just got back from the body shop and its not good news. they said the adjuster came out and said it might be totaled. well, lucky for everyone that's not an option, so they had better figure somethig out. apprently at the bodyshp, my truck retails for 69xx. the damage is about $2877.18. and in NC, legally if the car damage is 75% or more, then it has to be totaled. again, not what I wanted to hear, or an option for me. so I got the "log" that the body shop did. and its not good. they said I needed new door panels, handles, mirrors, and running boards even. and a few other things. so I'm waiting o nthe insurance guy to contact me with the options. needless to say, I'm not happy. I'll post a scan of the sheet and other info when I get back to campus. have a doctors apointment and I don't want to think about this now.

some people said something about the insurance compnay paying me for my loss and letting me keep the car, can someone confirm this?

As far as paying you and letting you keep the car, I believe that is true. You can get the money for your settlement minus the salvage value and you can keep the car. Called owners retainment iirc.

thanks man.. def. something im looking into then. b/c all i see that is really needed is a hood, fender, grill, grill guard, bumper and radiator. all of which i found online for about 1.3k, then paint 1k?. so i dont see how they got 5k+ in damage.... ill post the pdf of the body shops log when i get back on campus

That body shop is obviously a bunch of assholes that are just trying to scam. This happened to me when my '99 Dakota got hit. They wanted to total it, when it clearly wasn't. The assholes at the body shop wrote some ridiculous estimate trying to run the bill sky high and then the cunt at the insurance company was horrible to work with and wouldn't let me tell her what I wanted to do. Needless to say, I took it to another body shop where a friend of mine worked, they gave me a realistic estimate, and the cunt at the insurance company got her ass bitched out by me. My truck got fixed and then I told the people at my insurance company that I am no longer going to be using them because that bitch tried to make things so difficult and wanted to just total my truck rather than work with me and hear other options and estimates that I got. Good luck with it, I hope it turns out OK.

6k in damage? that bullshit. 200 for each side headlight? no. 50 for each decal? no. stupid shit.
ya man, i went through the list and highlighted stuff i can do, or get for cheap. i tracked down the bumper, hood, grill, and fender. all for 1/2 the price they had. plus, the headlights and fog lights are fine.. so idk whats going on there. they didnt pop the hood (least i dont think) so idk whats damaged there, but it drives fine, not getting hot.... soi we'll see. plan on taking it home this weekend, and going to tear it down.

The laws are different in each state. I saw in your estimate they used all aftermarket parts. In Minnesota you have the right to deny aftermarket. With my accident a few weeks ago, their insurance company was forced to write an estimate using either same year or newer used parts, or brand new Mopar parts. My check was $3900 and I had it repaired using all brand new Mopar parts. I'm waiting to hear about my accident from the other night, but I'm hoping to do the same thing.

As far as I know in Minnesota, the title HAS to exchange hands in the event of a total loss. The title must go from you to the insurance company then back to you, if you wish. That way the title is state stamped with "Salvage" on it.

I've been working at Abra Auto Body for 5 years now. My brother is a Platinum Certified tech, and I am Gold (nearly platinum) in damage analysis and estimatics. Your estimate on the first page is pretty accurate as far as quality body shops go.

Its funny how your exed out your named and adress but your DL is still up there...just saying...

Looks like its going to be deemed a total loss...They will write you out a check for what its worth and you can fix it or junk it. I had this happen to me with my 83 280zxT, I made it better than it was. Though It might be best to part your truck out and get another one in the long wrong these trucks ain't worth crapola
Total-they will take it....
Let them right the bill high...go to another one with higher prices then go to the body shop that you want...
I had USAA though...and got hit by another USAA driver
