took the dak to the shop the other day , noise front end. On the hoist found a rip in the boot on the axle passenger side. Also found worn control arm bushings. Priced it out $1100 all in. Guy says the bushings are not a seprate item , will replace both upper control arms complete , these come with greasable ball joints and of course replace the axle. Question , will there be a wheel alignment required , and is this a good deal. keeping in mind these prices are canadian. THX in advance....

anytime you change front end parts, an alignment is a good idea.
Major replacements like you are doing makes it a MUST

you should be able to get just the bushings for the control arms, but you have to pay the labor to remove the control arm anyway, so its probably better to replace the whole arm because it does the ball joint too. i've found the control arms for around $150 each with bushings and ball joint. the whole cv axle new is around $100 so your at $400 before labor. the labor is usually $75-$85 per hour so figure a couple hours labor and when doing any suspension changes on the front end you will need an alignment and here they are about $50-$60. these prices are in u.s. dollars and parts store prices so figure with some mark up on the parts and probably $7-800 in u.s. dollars for parts and labor.
