Hello i need some information sort of... I am going to be doing a front axle conversion on my 99 durango with a full time transfer case and a 318. Has anybody done this? the plan is to use the front axle out of a jeep cherokee as that is what i think will most closely match the size. any input or information would be greatly appreciated

WOW PLEASE let me know how this turns out Ci have a lifted sweet cherokee and Id like to lift my durango but I need to do a solid front axle swap and all the steering is whats freaking me out that and the control arms for the new axle... Its seriously gonna be a very expensive conversion I would know that, The AXLE alone is the cheaper part of doing this!

I have just about got mine done, The straight axle will make you lift your rig 6-8 inches just to clear oil pan and suspension flexing. Beware, this is a costly project and will take you 2 full days of wrenching and grinding and cutting work alone just to get all the old crap off (brackets). I consider myself pretty good at fabbing and a 4 inch grinder surgeon. This project will probably take most people 4-6 weekends of work, front and back lifted

I will try in next couple of days or so. I am waiting on king shocks from a trade I did. hopefully they will work out in flexing.

Heres some links on this site...check out these builds, they are very well researched and done. Username-"AlwaysBroken" is obviously very well experienced with this and a good guide to reference.
