Frame Notch?!

OK, well I got the stance closer to where I want it on the R/T. I cut the stock bumpstops down to about 1/2" all around. It rides... decent. When the rear hits, it really HITS. I know I need to notch my frame, just wondering who all has done it. Did ya do it yourself, buy a kit, homemade what?

Please Help me, I'm new to the really low game... I wanna go lower!

They make adjustable hanger kits for the Gen III's. I know I have seen them before. They are out there. I will do some searching tonight when I get home from work.
Yea, I just really don't want to spend the $300 for a set of leaves. Seems excessive to me! :biggthump
you can get a set of hangers and shackle mounts from sporttruckdirect.com for $200 shipped or a lil less, but trust me the leaves are less work.

That is a very very good point. Making me spend more money I don't have. Oh well, I am hopin one I get the notch that it'll be decent for a while.
go to lowes or home depot and buy some black steel "poop Pipe" in six inch diameter that and four peices of 1/4 inch plate 6 inches x 16 inches long will be all the materials you'll need. The Black pipe will cost @ 12.00 a foot but all you'll need is @ 3 inches of it. Rip the 3 inch section down it's diameter adn you'll have your C's that measure 6 inches across by 3 inches deep. you can fab up some pretty professional looking notches with this method. Welding is best in my opinion too.
Well, That very well could have worked. But I already ordered my Cnotch from SuicideDoors.com :biggthump I was starting to get really pissed off at them. I placed my order on the 8th, hadn't heard anything till yesterday! Oh well, I needed the part by this Friday, and it's supposed to come in on... You guessed it FRIDAY! SCORE! :drive:

Ok cool. Sounds pretty cheap to me, but maybe not.
So did you ever get your c-notch in?

Yessir...

It was really easy with a Plasma Cutter. I'd highly reccomend it to anyone with more than 3" of drop. I think with the Hotchkis leaves it wasn't really nessicary, but I still wanna the truck a few inches lower than it is now, so I think it was a good investment...

Here's some pics...

Here's it all done (Painted with some epoxy paint so it won't chip off)
