I know thats what the numbers say but coming from a guy who has owned both. My GenII has much more interior room than my RC R/T. Granted my R/T had buckets and my GenII has a bench. I drove both daily and there is no contest that my GenII is much more comfortable.
I have an 87 short bed with a 4 banger (blew it up), so im swapping it for an 81 318, but my motor mounts are 8 inches further forward on the new block. Any suggestions on where to buy extensions? Or do i just fab my own?
Schumacher ( www.engine-swaps.com ) or fabricate your own. I'm sure there's other places, but Schumacher at least sells them, even if they're normally "Out of Stock".
Or sell that block, buy a Magnum block with Magnum heads, get the heads cross drilled to take the LA manifold, and build that up.
Or, for that much work, drop in a B/RB block (say a 440? 383?) and run with that *grins* Same place for the motor mounts and headers.
Hickory NC Just got my first ever Dodge 93 Dakota LE Ext Cab 3.9 magnum . I am a Mercedes guy . They dont have trucks, and this one was given to me. Runs great looks like it barely will.
Hello boys and girls. Picked up a 90 shorty last week for almost nothing. She has the puny 2.5L with a blown head gasket (possibly head too) with a manny 5spd. I've already made a deal for, and am picking up a 318 from a 99 ram van, along with the harness and ecm for only $140!!! The body will need some TLC but for now the goal is to get the swap done and running, then worrying about more power once I have the kinks worked out. Here are a few pics. Cheers!!!
