Quick question to make sure I'm not missing something obvious. My wife has an 01 Grand Caravan and the factory radio is no longer producing sound. Everything else appears normal, you can put in and eject a cd, it appears that all functions appear normal just no sound coming from the unit. I have checked all the connections ground strap, both plugs that go into the stereo and have even unplugged the periphreal input for the ipod with no luck. Any ideas? I'm thinking the stereo just up and died but not sure seems unusual as I have never had this type of problem before.

Does it have the Infinity system? (Havn't seen many vans with it) If so it could be the amplifier. But if not I would guess the radio's internal amp has poo'd. Time to replace it with a better one! :)

BTW I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P670MP for sale ;) Will even include the kits to put it in. :D

Sounds liek a loose connection. Could be a loose wire on the harness that plugs in the back

13 years later -- hopefully it's been solved.

Truthfully, no one is policing the forum, exactly as it should be. There is no statue of limitations. You are free to respond to old posts -- there is just no real useful reason to do so. The OP either fixed his problem or junked his truck by now. I probably shouldn't point it out when someone responds to an old post -- I've been chastised for doing so. But I figure hey, maybe the new guy doesn't spot the date, and now he probably will, so in a weird way I figure it's a good thing.

On some forums, the topics get closed after so many months of inactivity; you wouldn't be able to respond to old posts even if you wanted to. And certainly there can be cases where it makes sense. But those cases can also be handled by opening up a new topic.....

This particular forum has a very small group of regular posters. Probably no more that a few dozen. A lot of people who come here via Google to get one question answered and then they fade away. I have no problem with that -- except when they fail to post the resolution to their particular issue, or even bother with a "thank you".

In that light, I guess I should avoid doing things that might scare people off... We need all the input we can get. I'll try harder to not offend, but man, it's difficult to be polite sometimes. I'll admit I do not suffer fools gladly. And that's a failing of mine.

Yo Radioactive, you didn't offend at all. It was that other deutchbag who basically called me a liar. Pointing out that a post is a decade old is ultimately a good thing, weird or not as now I am aware of these relics. In turn I would like to point out that it's not a "Statue of Limitations", but a "Satute". There was a Seinfeld episode on the same topic. Kramer swore it was a statue! I was being sarcastic when I said that. It's all good man! You seem to be knowledgeable, so I have a silly question that I've been unable to get answered. How come nobody runs side pipes anymore? After i installed mine I noticed that NOBODY sports them anymore. Just the step rails. No they dont burn my legs, ever. As long as your touching the heat shield. They are bad-ass along with my headers. I guess they are from a by-gone era. Someone said that there out of style. WTF? Style? They look better than step rails, which are pretty much just for looks. I dunno. I think they're effin' sweet. Sounds and looks good too. I live in Tampa Title Town, and I swear to God, I've not seen another vehicle with side pipes, except for those new Dodge muscle cars, and they're tucked away almost unseen. What's up?

Actually you were right the first time -- its a "statute" (as in law) , not a statue or satute. I typed it wrong and auto-correct bit me.

I'm not sure why side pipes fell out of favor. You don't see them much at all here in the rust belt, because, well, they rust really quickly. We all had them on our rides back in the 70's but if you drove in the winter they were full of holes after one or two seasons. They are right in the path of the slat spray.

Running boards and steps are generally aluminum, so only the mounting brackets rust that fast. And then the frame rusts where they were attached.... I don't drive my truck in the winter so not an issue for me.

You got that rite! They do rust quickly. But so do the chrome exhaust tips we've all had with cat back twice pipes. Had to constantly replace those as well. Luckily we have no salt or "slat" spray (lol). I wonder why auto-correct allowed me to misspell statute. How bout the Statute Of Liberty? So I guess you dont drive yer Dak for half of the year. We no longer have a winter season down here. Just summer and fall and hurricane season! Who needs winter anyway? Dont know how ya'll can put up with it.

Same reason it allowed me to type "slat" :)
Actually it may be because you capitalized it.

WTF is a dandress anyway? Sounds like something Dan would wear if I was a tranny. No offense to the throngs of trannies (trannys?) out there! Imagine, a tranny with tranny issues, along with its transmission problems too! It all goes back to 65 million years ago, to the OG Tranny-sore-ass/Wrecked! Talk about confusing........! Time for me to STFU cuz I'm getting carried away. My apologies! Its dandress's fault, with a provocative handle like that. How bout danpants instead of dandress, unless we're talkin Danielle..........lm out!!!
