Leaving Utah and moving to Missouri, against my will. Ft Leonard Wood area.

It will be a good drive for the hemi Dakota so I'm happy about that, but leaving my home is hard. Guys got any info about the area that may put me at ease? I've googled some stuff, but that doesn't really give first hand accounts from the people who actually live there.

People are friendly & easy going. The area has plenty of twisty roads if you ride, beautiful woods if you hunt and miles of lakes for watercraft.
Close enough to the Ozarks for a vacation or Branson for entertainment.
If you like pro sports, you'll be between KC and St. Louis.
I been driving through there every year for over 30+ years, since I have family in NE Mo.
I think you'll like the area once you get use to the rural setting (clean air).

Speaking of snow, it's snowing here now haha.

Yea, I've kinda gotten used to the idea as I've known for a month now. It's an Army thing. It will be the first change of pace I've had in years.

I'm more of a motorsports kinda guy, but Utah has no pro teams to root for so maybe I'll have to start caring about it.

The wife will love the lakes, might have to get a small boat in the future like she always wanted. And the clean air, that will be a change. Its not terrible here, but we live in a bowl that let's the pollution build up. I'll miss my extended family, but at the same time... Holy crap, and I glad to get some space hah.

You will be near me, as I live in Independence but I don't make it out that way very often and with my temp contract going to April 6 and I am being moved to weekend nights, I won't have a lot of free time to head out that way.

Hahaha, well if I didn't already say it, welcome to the neighborhood! I never did hear back from you when you PMed me. Like the others said, it has some amazing parks and river, tons of space, dirt cheap living, people good, the air is clean and clear.
