Double Din in a 3rd Gen...

I've decided to try to put a double din in my truck, so I can have dvd, backup camera, etc... And get done over Christmas Break.

here's the plan of attack:

1) Spare dash face, double din adapter intended for 05-06 Chrysler vehicles, epoxy.

2) Relocate hvac controls about 1 inch down, to make room for the receiver. It looks like moving it "up" would cause too much trouble.

I am still looking for threads to help guide me. Any advice, links, or hints accepted.

3) Send off to Phoenix Image to have covered. I was thinking a Blue to black fade, with a small bit of silver in the middle to match my door panels... but I don't know yet.

Again, fishing for ideas.

did one in my truck, u shouldnt need to move the heater controls at all. u will have to cut some bracing in the dash to fit it in. ill try and get some pics tomorrow if i get a chance. its actually easier than u think

Yeah, I was hoping not to go cutting on the dash's underneath. That's why I thought moving the hvac controls would be a possible solution, as they are only an inch deep behind the frame.

please, post pics ! Thank you in advance.
Sorry guys my laptop decided to take a shit. I got pics but my phone won't let me post them. Soon as I get my laptop back up ill post em

Jasoon!!!!! I told you to just give me a call and we could knock that thing out in a couple of hours with dry and cure time- Lates:banana2:]
Hurry up and do this..............

I want to do mine, and would like to see yours first!!!!

Include some pics of the actual unit install so we can see if there is any cutting or fab work required to make it fit in the factory space in the dash.

PM me your phone #, I lost it. LOL.
Get an extra one from the wreckers and build with it so you don't screw up yours. I've thought about doing this myself before too but never really got any deeper than thinking about it. I was going to relocate my heater controls to do it though. If you pull it off it'll look really clean!
i have one for sale but its tan....
even more reason for him to buy it off you, an excuse to have it painted and smoothed out!

i believe in the first post the "plan of attack" has a "spare dash piece" maybe thinking in advance was done here....

and goodluck with the build. i'd love to see how it turns out
Yeah, perhaps I should read all of post before I post. Two great minds think a like I suppose.
Looks good I have a spare dash and started doing that with it got it all smoothed out but not cut out yet, Suggest Phoenix Imaging to cover that for you. would help the unit look less out of place. I hear their work is great.
