80-90% of all your braking power comes from the front wheels. You will get a much bigger bang for your buck if you upgrade the front brakes and leave the drums on there.

Absolutely true. Makes it hard to cough up I think 600 dollars or so (SSBC) or eeks! 1200 for Stillen to convert the rear when it'll do a minimal percentage of braking.

I have a 2001 Dakota SLT with the 4.7, and the front disc brakes suck, really lousy feel and not enough feel to modulate higher pedal effort. The slide surfaces for the single acting piston calipers get notches worn into them and then the pads don't fully retract to avoid pad wear, which also causes heat buildup, which causes pad wear. Two years ago, probably less than 6,000 miles ago, I installed new aftermarket rotors with new pads. The rotors warpped and now I got pulsing brake shudder. I plan to upgrade to the 2002 to 2004 twin piston calipers and better rotors when I move my 2001 Dakota chassis under my 56 Dodge frame swap build. Or, is it better yet to use Wilwood brakes and bigger rotors?
