hello to all. i have a 2001 durango sport and my problem is that i keep blowing fuse #9 (the dash lights). this is annoying as hell because at night, i have to use a small flashlight to verify speed. are there any known problems with the light switch? is there a way to check for bad grounds? i don't want to have to purchase a new switch to find out i don't need afterall. any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

That happend to me once, and the weird thing is, the knob you pull out to turn on the lights (97 dak) slid completly out! heh'

I bought a new switch, and it's been working perfectly fine for years now.

I don't remember how much the switch was, couldn't be more than $30 bucks.

If you can get a hold of a multi meter you can check the voltage on the switch or check for ground. More then likely it is the switch.

I work for the company that makes this switch. the board is called HBLX Board and there are about 4 different kinds of boards but all work the same. only diff is if you have fog lights dak, dingo or ram (cargo light or not etc) these switches have been giving us hell. the main switch was falling off on some of the boards and I personally had to reflow (temp where the solder melts) them because the solder joints were only reflowing for 9 seconds insead of 60 seconds and causing major problems. dont know if you got a bad batch because of our ovens but it sounds like it.
