1999 Dakota Sport 4x4. About 195k on it. Lots of rust!!! Have had issues with the fuel gauge reading incorrectly off and for over 2 years. Just recently, the entire dash has died, not a single gauge works, but the bottom row of idiot lights are all lit, and an orange triangle in the middle of the dash which I've never seen. Other than that, the truck runs fine. Is it the dash, or a ground issue? I'm leaning toward grounding being the problem but have no clue as to where the hell to look. Really need some help on this one. Thx

Bad sending unit with the fuel pump assembly?

As far as the anomaly on the dash-board, I've no personal experience with that, but take a look at this & see if you think any of it is applicable:

I think I read somewhere that the BCM is regarded as a low failure unit (unlike the vibe I get about the PCM), but who knows.
Good luck with your troubleshooting & let us know what you come up with.

I'm driving an 02 Durango 4.7L/2wd. Bought it used in 2007. I had it about 1 year when the headlights started to blink. At first, it was once every 20 minutes or so. Then as time went on, it became more often until it was once every minute. After a little research, I discovered it might be the BCM. Well, I checked availability from salvage yards and various others sources. The only (reliable) source was my dealer. I checked with them and they had one. When I took it in, I told them I was aware of what was involved to replace it. 2 screws, 4 plugs and 5 min. later, it was fixed. Not any problems since. If you go that route, don't let them gig you for 1 hr labor. The BCM is a dealer only item or I would have done it all myself. Good luck.

Out of curiosity, how much did that BCM cost you, from the dealer?

I can't remember. I just knew it had to be fixed and the dealer was the only source. It's like, you know it has to be fixed and you don't want to spend a fortune, but there were no other alternatives. Parts stores don't carry them. It's a dealer only item. My salvage yard sources wouldn't even discuss selling one, due to probability of failure from age. I can only recommend calling dealers and getting prices.
