My buddy's got one of the new turbo'd SS Cobalts and we ran a couple times last night.

Two runs were basically the same... went from like a 10 roll - I jumped about a car, car and a half from the punch and he slowly pulled back to where his bumper was about to my door up until around 100 where we let out.

Then did a 45'ish roll and was pretty much the same result. I jumped a car or so out and he inched back to my door til about 100'ish.

All in all, Im pretty happy with the ol slug.

tat doesn't make sense to me. Was he not able to inch up to you until you started getting near 45?

cause to me it sounds like you jumped him at 10mph, but he spent the rest of the time catching up to you, but at 45mph, even with the jump, he still started catching up to you... so to speak, he caught up to you just as much from 45-100 as he did from 10-100. ... anyone know what I'm trying to say? (can anyone help?)

Yea I got it back on the road 3 or 4 months ago. I ended up putting the 408 shortblock in it. Its got stock heads and cam for now though and its low compression but Im running it N/A for now too. Got a 2bbl M1 and 58mm F&B with an SCT tune on it and thats it.

Haha I know. I had a 4bbl at one point but sold it when I didnt think I was going to run the 408. I would be interested in working out a trade though, but Idk when I'd be able to get mine off and all that.. My Dakota is my DD.

ahhh that might be the reason for the discrepancies then.

Either way, way to kick his ass. Only problem? His car costs 2x what your engine alone did! (And if he bought it used, even less )

ask him next time how the interior of his cobalt is holding up. They're pieces of shit. I looked at 4 cobalts before I bought the focus, and in each of them the interior was garbage. One of them was really bad, key marks all around the ignition, the radio buttons were all faded away, the cloth on the arm rests was coming apart and the door handles were peeling.

hell, in all of them, the door handles were peeling.

interior is absolutely terrible in those cars.

Drivetrain is absolute solid as a rock and the chassis and brakes/suspension are amazing.

That is why the car costs 20k.

That outhandles the evo/sti, is faster than the evo, stops better than both of them and with just a tune puts down 290+ WHEEL horsepower and over 340 torque.

Minus the fact it's fwd, sounds like it would make a good gutted out drag car since the interior sounds like it's crap anyway.

You cant compare a Subaru against a Chevy. Sorry. But I have worked for both car manufacturers and Subaru is a much better car than a chevy. I seriously doubt it out handles an STI. IMO. And the EVO is stock with 291 HP vs the ss cobalt stock with 260. Motor trend also gave the cobalt ss a 2 star rating and the EVO and STI a 4 star rating.

408 shortblock with forged rods and pistons (8.3:1 compression), cast crank, 2bbl M1, 58mm F&B, SCT tune. Then my Spintech mid-length headers from my 360. Oh and stock heads and cam.

Ill get some pics up later today, I got a burnout vid too from when I got new tires a month or two after I got it running. Had to finish off the old ones the proper way.

It ran an 8:22 thats faster then an m3 e46, xkr, s2000, mazda speed 3, bmw 335i twin turbo, audi s5,350z, and many more... For the price its a quick car. And with GM performance you can get over 300 HP and 350 ft/lbs torque and still be under factory 5 year 100000mile warranty
