I bought this truck last april and drove it till september getting a best of 17mpg.



So then I bought this.


And now the filter box is a lie.



But gets 600 miles to a tank now.

We took the 2002 Tdi ALH diesel and bolted it up to the stock drive line using the stock NV3500. The ALH has r520 injectors and a tune and a BV43a turbo makes around 190ish hp and 300+ftlbs. 29MPG on the last tank. Still working on AC and need to do a gear swap but nothing from keeping it from daily driver duty.

you make it sound so easy!....way to go, Im a huge gas mileage fan and this really ticks off so many levers on my cool factor panel.

This has been done already in jeeps and ford rangers and tacomas so I am not doing anything new. But I thought the idea of a QC Dakota that gets 29mpg would appeal to someone here. That and it has more torque than the old 4.7 in stock form ever dreamed about.

4.56 gears installed! I can use 5th gear now. No lugging 1st gear now and MPGs went up ever so slightly. I have about 16k miles on this swap and its working great! Custom front bumper for larger intercooler and tire clearance is in the works next.

Over 30K miles on this thing now and its eating up the miles no problem. If you have a dakota with a stick this is the swap you need to do. Still averaging 28mpg though the winter too.

Ball joint replacement is almost complete! Waiting on some brake line stuff.

Its been back together for a bit now. still waiting to gather guts and gears for he front axle. It rides awesome now after dialing in the coilovers. No sway bar up front and I dont think I will add one at this point yet.
