Yes, I actually did put one on my 5.9 Dak back in '15.
If it did run better, it certainly wasn't slap-in -the-face-better.
Don't hold me to this because I am going strictly from a somewhat flawed memory, but I believe that K&N was claiming 15 more HP at 5,000 RPMs.
It does sound good, though.

Let me take a look on another forum & find a thread where a couple of members were explaining why a CAI would have little or no effect on a MAP engine. I cannot tell you for certain that their explanations are right or wrong.

Ah, here it is:

Post #4 is about where I am guilty of hijacking it & turning it into a CAI discussion. (however, I felt that OP was satisfied with the answer he had to his OP & I felt my CAI questions were relevant to the OP).

Anyone put one of these in their truck? If so did you see/feel any change in power?
I had one on my 5.9 Durango. I took it off. The increase in power was negligible, however it was certainly louder at WOT around 2500+ RPM. Ive heard that the filtration is worse with the CAI as well.

If you plan to do any offroading the factory air box is much better the Durango gulped water a few times on crossings where it would not with the factory air box

I had an Airaid CAI on my 4.7 a while back, and the only thing that increased was the noise, and not in a good way.
Ditched it soon after installing it..., well, I sold it soon after.

Now I only hear the beautiful sound of my Borla Cat-Back, Oh yeah.

I have the K&N on my '03 4.7. It's a bit more powerful, not a lot, certainly noisier, and I think my gas mileage actually decreased. I may take it off.

I've had one for more than 15 years. i would've switched back to the factory box long ago, but tossed it when i moved. I don't think i got any gains from the CAI. I did notice considerable gains when switching to a port throttle body and 1.7 Roller Rockers.

Coming back to this... I think as dave2003 said above if you were to build an performance engine that was moving a lot of air it would have some improvements

Copied & pasted from another thread on another forum:

"Our engine's PCM does not use a MAF sensor, so doesn't know how much air is flowing into the engine (directly). It uses the MAP sensor (vacuum) and IAT sensor to calculate how much air is flowing and bases injector pulse on that amount."
