You don't need a compressor up to 3" lift coils. When you unhook the spindle, just have a roller jack under the a-arm and another or jackstand actually holding the weight of the truck. Then lower the lower a-arm slowly untill it stops. Then tug it out. Coils smaller then 3" lift, the coils will pull or even slide/fall out easy.
Yea, its really easy. When I broke the ball joint free of the spindle, I left the castleated nut on to keep the two together. Then I used a jack to compress the lower control arm and pull the spring like rebel described.
