Not sure if this is the right category, but has anyone removed their clutch fan?? What does it do for power and mpgs. Also has anyone had any overheating issues afterwards? And Is there an electric fan control kit out there? Thanks Phil

If I am thread jacking, I apologize in advance. I did my 180 thermostat swap out about 3 years ago. Recently I started hearing this wining sound coming from the engine. Only seemed to do it when accelerating. A friend told me it sounds like a alignment issue, but my subconscious said it was the water pump. So yesterday I had to jump a friends car and all of a sudden the coolant started shooting out the radiator. The drain plug actually blew off. So I replaced the water pump, the old one looked perfect. So it wasn't that. Then I started to ask myself and thought I'd ask you guys:

Could it be the thermostat is damaged and will not open to allow water to circulate through the engine? I ordered the Stat that you guys recommended, should be here tomorrow. Also I read that I should only use the rust looking antifreeze, not the green. Any truth to that? What other things should I look at also?

Also, I need a new drain plug, but I can not seem to find it. Any ideas what its officially called and where I can buy it?
