I would like to place a sub or two under the seats. I was lookin at MTX Thunderform, JL Audio. I also have a 10" kicker from another car I owned. My truck allready has the audio jack wires from the other owner. I don't have alot of cash to spend on this and would like to hear everyones input on this or any ideas. Also if I should buy an amp which one should I buy?

Well, first of all, you have to buy an amp, its not an option, lol.

If you're on a limited budget, I'd stick with the little kicker you already have. You have all the electric ran so just hook it up to a cheapo little amp, (give me the exact specs on your sub and I'll find you a nice amp) then get a nice little sealed box that you can put right behind the center console or make one on your own. It wont be under your seats, but then again, do you really need the space in the back between where the 2 passengers are on the floor?

That requires nothing but buying an amp and getting your hands on a box. This is budget to the max, and its going to probably sound better than anything thunderform or prefabbed to fit in a small spot. prefab = teh anus

I'm in a similar situation as you. I have two 12" subs in a prefabbed box, really crappy subs, and a really crappy Dual 460W(ya, right) amp. So I just decided to build a dowfiring box out of MDF to put 'under' the rear seat. It'll end up raising the rear seat a few inches, but putting down a plastic bucket to simulate where the seat will go, and man it was much more comfortable!

So yeah, my suggestion is for the absolute cheap, do what the guy above me suggested. Or you could build a box similar to mine under just one side of the seat. A 4x8 sheet of MDF cost 20 bucks around here. Whatever you do, Good Luck! :mullet:

Yea, I want to get 1 10" Comp VR myself. It's going to go in a box built under the rear bench seat, along with a Kicker amp to push it. Trucks already got killer Infinitys all around. I'm happy with the sound, just needs more boom. not alot, just more. Thinking I am going to basically build stealth box, but only have 1 sub, and the amp on the other side. After removing the back seat in my old truck for bass. I realized, I'd rather the back seat!

Sorry, hadn't realized you asked for pics. I haven't actually built my box yet, with the water pump/electrical problems, I've put it on the back burner. I can give you the plans on what I am going to do, and when I actually build it, I will of course put pics up in a thread for all to see. I enjoy showing off too! :jester:

I let you guys in on a little project i'm thinking about doing in the early spring,I want to make a center console (arm rest) for the back and have 2 tens facing forward at a 45 degree angle.i was thinking of buying an extra jump seat(small half) so i'd have 2 small jump seats,cut the middle out of the tool tray and fill the area in the middle with a padded box. any thoughts ?

Kinda having problems visualizing the box, but I like the idea of 2 'small' seats with a console. I was actually thinking of removing the small seat, building a simple clean little encloser there, and then having the middle and the other seat. Not sure. Need to worry about it later!

That could work, but you'd have to fab something up to mount that other seat. I've had the rear apart, and there are bolts extending from the back of the cab to secure the seats to. Other then that, it sounds like a good idea. Just remember, the floor of the cab is not smooth or flat, it's like a pyramid. But there is a bump in the center you could work off of that is flatter then the rest, right where the tranny is. I'd say, give it a shot and see if you can get the airspace needed.

Also, it'll make it a bit difficult for people to climb into the seat behind the drivers. At least in mine anyways, because my power drivers seat doesn't move up as far as the passenger seat does. But thats a very small price to pay for some subs, IMO. :biggthump

I designed it and had a friend fiberglass it around partical board... i could make one for you... but it would cost around...700$ not including shipping..
