I need your guys' help...

I found a center console at the local scrap yard and the price is right. Unfortunately, I don't know how to remove it and its cold outside in Minneapolis!! Can anybody enlighten me with the fastener locations and tools needed to remove this thing??? Thanks for the help...

This is for the big floor mounted center console, not the bench seat...

what he said, theres 4 inside console itself and depending on stick or auto they are under cup holders andif stick they threw in another one up by shifter. Also if has power supply inside make sure to unhook that.

So 4 phillips screws in the console and 2 under the cup holder? I didn't see the screws (in the console, I assume the others are below the mats) when I glanced in the truck, are they hidden? Thanks again.

if its anything like my 99 you also have to take out the rear seat bolts closest to the console they have sometype of brace that connects to them bolts

I know its an old thread but if it makes any difference, mine weren't phillips, they were hex bolts. (i've got an '02)

there is one in the very front and two underneath the "single cup" cupholder.

and there's 4 under that big plastic thing you pull out of the middle of the actual console and thats all for bolts.. one more thing to worry about is cigarette lighter thing

pull that out and disconnect the wire and you're golden.

I still haven't made it out there yet. But whe I removed my small cup holder to run wires it was a hex as well. I figured I would bring both with me just in case... Thanks for the heads up.

I'm in the same boat, mine is cracked pretty badly and it would be nice to swap it out. I'm going to have to go junking...

I’ve been reading this very old thread and it doesn’t seem to be accurate for my ‘02 Durango. I removed the 4 Philips head screws under the lid to the consol, the 2 hex bolts from under the single cup holder and the single one from the very front of the unit. Comes loose at the top where the screws came out and the rest won’t budge at all. The second photo shows as far as I can get it to pull apart.

If your console looks like mine below, you're definitely removing the wrong screws. Put those Phillip Head screws back in and let me know. The bolts to remove are all Hex bolts, 7 of them, can't remember the size off hand.

Ok, if anyone has the console posted below, and wants to remove it, the instructions will follow.
Hopefully this will help some of y'all.

There are 7 Hex screws to remove, thats all that holds the console in place.
  • There is one bolt under the front long storage area, it's under the rubber mat on the Left side, in front of the two side by side cup holders. Simply lift up the rubber mat to access it, there's a tab on the right side to help pull it up. (The Red circled area/arrows in the pictures below)
  • There are two bolts under the large single cup holder. That large cup holder simply pulls straight up and out, it is held in with one single push clip (pictured below). The two screws are on the sides, and there is a single hole in the center in which the large plastic cup holder slides into. (The Green circled area/arrows in the pictures below.)

  • The last four Hex screws are under the bottom tray that sits in the bottom of the console interior. Empty your center console, and simply pull the bottom 'floor' out of the console to access the four Hex screws. (The Blue circled area/arrows in the pictures below.)

The console will now come right out.
Here is how the screw holes are laid out on the floor.

And of course, keep a frosty beverage on hand to keep you company.
