I have a 2003 Dakota slt. My transfer case has a decent crack in it so I'm going to replace it as jb weld isn't up for the job. I found a guy local selling a rebuilt 243 out of an 04 ram 1500. My truck came with the 233d can I use the 243 without having to modify too much or at all. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Sorry, but I don't know about the 243.

I came here to say: Your best bet is to go with another 233 (2hi/4hi/4lo) or a 244 (awd/4hi/4lo) out of a similar year Dakota or Durango, because they will bolt right in. Make sure to inspect the grease boot on your front driveshaft. They tend to fail on that little pancake style cv joint that's on the transfer case end. Replace or repair or upgrade as needed.
