I would think they'd have the same mounting brackets....crawl under the trucks and take a look.

I still think painting your existing bumpers would be better.

The bumpers I have on there now are not in the best shape there are alot of scrapes and cuts from who ever had the truck before me. Thats why I want new one's.

At some point (I believe the separation is 97-00 and 01-04) Daimler-Chrysler changed the Dakota bumper design - the older models have a split bumper which is a metal bumper on top with a urethane piece bolted below it. The newer trucks have a one-piece cover which fits over a different bumper bracket.

Unless you're really needing to save the money I'd recommend getting one of the aftermarket bumper covers and just slide it over the whole OEM setup.

Doing what SinCity said is an option too......you don't want to see what the bumpers look like under my Stillen!
