Hey guys i have a 89 dakota 2wd, reg cab , short box that i am in the process of swaping in a LA 360. Im looking for a wiring diagram of the firewall bulkhead. If any one has one would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the 1989, but here's a 1988; should be basically the same, with the possible additon of the TACH signal (don't get excited, it's 2x per revolution, or half what your engine is putting out) and no, I don't know where it comes in either (since I have a tach-less 1988.)

Perfect thank you. My truck has a facotry tach as well. I need to fix my head lights. Im switching mine to carb so removing all the un needed wires how ever managed to pull at least one that was needed now have to back trac to figure it out .

I want to thank you very much for this. I just had to replace my connector myself. After working on it all day yesterday, I was able to get my truck fired up. This diagram helped me out soooo much. I pulled one from a 1990 Dakota at the junk yard and it was in excellent condition. I couldn't find one to show the wiring of a 1990 so I figured I will just match the wires I do have a figure out what needs to be re-wired. I only had to re-wire my overdrive switch and solenoid. I sacrificed the speed control as it never worked before and I can revisit it later. I cannot thank you enough for this. Crazy how you posted this almost 5 years ago and it came up in a search on Google.
