i think the booster in brake system is going out. Most of the time when i stop i can hear a noise that sounds like air is coming out of a tire. Any one know what i can do and/or how much it will cost?

alot of times when boosters go out you hear a hissing noise only when braking. Never done one on a dakota before but they cant be that hard.

Remove master cylinder from booster. Try doing so without remving lines.

After that you need to dissconnect brake pedal rod assembly.

then theirs a couple nuts holding the booster to the firewall.

These were the steps i used on an '03 wrangler.

You know I'd assume the same thing, my truck made the same noise for ever and the pedal would only engage barely at the floor. I could pump the brakes up though, no matter how much I bled the brakes it was still the same.

One concept I've never understood which would further enlighten my problem is, does the brake pedal pushrod go straight through the booster, or connect to the booster then the booster connects to the M/C (this is what I'd presume).
