Auburn or Truetrac street/strip/snow/ice

Which one would be best for all those conditions? I want to put 4.10 or 4.56 gears in and figure I might as well install a new differential. I've found the Truetrac for $509.00 free shipping and the Auburn for $382.00 with free shipping.

BTW my truck has 4.7 with auto. With 4.56 gears what rpm's would I be at the end of the quarter mile in 3rd with 29" tires (255/55/18)? Tire size may change but not drastic.

true trac > auburn. You get what you pay for
true trac hands down.

no clutches to wear out.

in wet or icy conditions with very little traction, it'll act like an open diff, which helps keep the back end from getting too squirly on you. dry pavement with grip, it'll act like a locker and you'll get good power to both wheels.

hang a wheel off the side of the road in mud and get stuck? yup, it'll act like an open diff, however, ride the brakes as you give it throttle, the brakes will make the diff "engage" and act like a locker, and you can get out of the mud and back on the road.

I hate open diffs in snow/ice, way too unpredictable IMO. I'll take guaranteed oversteer over sometimes oversteer.

I've been running an Auburn for about 10 yrs now. It's been a really good differential.

Yup thats why I ordered up my locker. It's really hard to pull out in traffic when you go from spinning both wheels to one wheel, from countersteering to oh shit turn turn turn turn.
Everybody has good points about both, thats why its such a hard choice for me! As bad as my truck is in snow and ice I definitely need both wheels spinning to get going. At the same time when I'm in the left lane on ice and I give it some gas and my rearend starts sliding to the right towards another car in the right lane I start wishing I had a single wheeler! I want it all dammit, I'm worth it!:D

My stock differential clutches seem to still be good with 76,??? miles so I would imagine that an Auburn would probably outlast the truck? When I was doing a little research I ran across a site that seem to think that the Auburn could take more HP than the Truetrac? I cant seem to find it now, so any thoughts on that?:stick:
